Question about Cell Phones

1 Answer

I have a Panasonic Digital Cordless Answering System: Model KX-TG5771. I had a stored message from my father who has since passed away. Somehow it got erased. We didn't do it. All messages are gone. I called Panasonic Tech Support, and the Geek Squad at Best Buy. The Geek Squad told me to give you guys a try. They guy tried hard but wasn't able to provide further assistance (we was in their cell phone dept). My phone is not a cell, it's a digital cordless with a digital answering system. Panasonic told me that it has flash memory and therefore can not be retrived once messages are erased. I am devasted and so is my little girl. My dad's message gave us great comfort. Is there any way it is retriveable if I had a technical forensic person look at the board inside the phone? Again, I was told it has a flash memory so it is not possible. I can't leave any stone unturned. This is the only medium where I had one voicemail of my dad who passed away 2 years ago on Valentines Day. Please help!

I got your response but remember that this is not a cell phone. The phone is a digital cordless phone

with a digital answering machine that resides within the base. I spoke with our service provider

Cox Communications and they said that they can not help me because we don't use their

voice mail messaging system. Our phone has it's own message recording system using

flash memory. The user manual says to erase all messages you need to hit the erase key twice (we did not do that). All I know is that somehow my deceased father's message was deleted with

all other messages that were stored on the answering machine. Is is possible that this is

still recoverable somehow? I need someone that is at the level of a technical forensic guru.

This is a very challenging scenario but I can't accept that I won't be able to hear my father's message

anymore. There is no other message from him. It brought me and my little girl great comfort.

The timing couldn't be worse because the anniversary of his death is on Valentines Day which is

coming up fast. Please do everything in your power to help me and use every resource available

to you. I will be eternally grateful.

I am holding out with hope that you will be the link between me and my dad's message being

recovered miraculously. I have a question: I am getting new messages on my answering

machine. I'm afraid to mess with it. As these new messages come in is there a chance that

they can take the space of where my father's message was. He was message #2 out of about

16 messges saved in the answering machine. Should I continue to erase these new messages

that come in and not be messing up the chance for any potential data recovery? I will wait

to hear from you before I delete any new saved messages.

My unit does not have a hard drive. It has flash memory. I want to make sure that you fully

understand exactly what this phone has. I spoke with a Data Recovery company yesterday

and they said that if it in fact has flash memory the technology is not available today to retrieve it.

I don't know if you fully comprehend this situation based on the information that I have provided

and reiterated to you. If you don't have an answer Monday I am going to request to work with

someone else because I don't believe that we are making any progress.

When you speak with Panasonic please get confirmation that this model has a flash memory and

not a hard drive. If there is a hard drive I think there might be a chance to retrieve. Thanks

Hello! I am touched by your request. I will do everything in my power to recover, if possible, what you have lost.

This was a voice mail that you received from your father; Correct?
Voice mail is recorded and stored by your service provider and NOT by the KX-TG5771 cordless phone. Let me be absolutely certain I have the correct model number. Also, shed a little light on what you mean by "I had a stored message and all are gone".
Do you have a user guide? I can send you a link to download the user guide, for free, if you do not have one. An explanation of voice mail is given on page #62. Send a comment , I'll be here until 11pm EDT....

Hello! Let me correct an error. The KX-TG5771 does have the capability to store messages.
It also can use a service provider to store voice mail. I apologize for the misleading statement.
Quite frankly, when I looked at the user guide I became enthused with the fact that the missing message could be recovered from the service provider.

I have a contact at Panasonic. We are looking into any and all methods of recovery. I'll get back to you on Friday......................saailer

Hello! I am in contact with Panasonic engineering and some of the corporate people to investigate recovery. This may take a few days. However, I'm not putting this down until I find an answer. I understand very clearly what this means to you. I'm on-line from 7am to 11pm EDT; If you need to comment, I am here...saailer

Hello! I would turn the answering machine off. The last thing you want to do is write over memory. Turn it off but leave the battery connected. Disconnect it from the phone line. Perhaps you can pick up an inexpensive one to see you through the next few days. If it happens that it can be recovered your probably going to ship it somewhere anyway.

Another suggestion is to contact your local State Police. Many State crime units have equipment that can pull information off a supposedly erased hard drive.

I do not want to build false hope; A step at a time...............saailer

Hello! I know that your unit has a flash drive...The reference to "hard Drive" was in relation to your State Police BCI. I only meant that they have equipment that can recover data and used hard drive as a synonym for memory...

Hello! Here is a link to a site that sells software used to recover lost data from flash drives...
I have an e-mail out to them to see if a USB port can be wired into your answering machine memory

Hello! I have a partial solution. There is a software program that can recover erased data from flash memory. It can be purchased at; www.winundelete.com

The load version is V3.50. When a flash drive is connected to your computer via a USB connector and the flash drive appears as a "drive letter" (drive G; As an example) the program can undelete the information...

The pin out connection for a USB connector are; Pin#1= +5volts...Pin#2= Data (negative)...Pin#3= Data (positive)...Pin#4= Ground...

If you take the answering machine to a computer specialist, they can wire in the USB female connector to the answering machine's circuit board.

What I am waiting for is the circuit diagram from Panasonic which would allow the computer technician to properly connect the USB to the phones circuit board. As soon as I receive this information I'll send it to you.

Hello. Just spoke with Panasonic Engineering. They informed me that it can not be recovered. The approach was spot on but the circuitry does not support a USB connection.

I wish I had better news; I gave it my best.

How do I change message on panasonic KX-TGA652 cordless phone

To change the answering machine greeting message, make sure that the phone is in standby mode. Press Menu on the handset, then navigate to Answering Device with the Up/Down arrows. Press Select and then navigate to Greeting. Press Select again and highlight Record Message. Press Select and then confirm this by selecting Yes and pressing Select once more. Hold the handset about 20 cm (7.5") away from your mouth and speak the new greeting clearly. Press Stop when done and then press Off.

Alternatively, you can press # 3 0 2 after pressing Menu. Then highlight Yes and press Select. This is given in the manual for the phone. Panasonic has the manual here: http://panasonic.ae/en/manuals/KX-TG6541.pdf . See page 32.

Note: this greeting will only play if the answering system is on and you have the system respond before any telephone provider Voicemail system answers the call.

I hope this helps.
