Ceramic type ring around the top spindle has cracked in pieces and unit now sparks on microwave mode.

That is the insulator. Don't try gluing it up, you will need a replacement part. Never mess with the insides of a microwave unless you have good knowledge of what you are doing. There is a circuit in there which can deliver a lethal shock even when the microwave is unplugged from the wall outlet.

If you get a repair quote you may find it is economical to buy a new one instead, for which you get a warranty.

How to fix SE in the control panel of microwave

Remove power and clean the inside while checking if there are food particles on the inside or in the Wave-guides- the portion where the Magnetron is fitted. Also remove the main cover and clean the areas of the Magnetron , check for loose joints,Finally check if the main capacitor is faulty. Other wise you will need a check on the main board, and also the Magnetron for leakage.

My sharp carousel microwave only works when I depress the door knob halfway down. What could be wrong ?

All microwaves have a safety lever or switch that prevents the unit from working if door is not closed all the way. Most of them you have to take the unit apart as access to it is from inside--what happens is when door is closed the latch or door moves the lever--seen a number where lever is loose or even the holder for it cracked.

Most shops are familiar with this and it should if the problem not be a real expensive repair.

Microwave doesn't heat and turning off

sounds to like its the magnetron or the inverter this is why the unit shuts down now it could be just the magnetron but it maybe both parts it can be straight forward to see if it the magnetron if you remove the top of the unit on the left hand side you will see the mag its the square box in the middle in will have the code m42 236 or 210 on it look behind the fan into the mag you are looking for a crack in the magnets inside the magnetron if u see a crack then thats your prob if not then it might be the inverter try this first but make sure you unplug the unit and be careful everything inside the unit is very sharp and use insulated pliers hope this helps if u want to know what a magnetron looks like just google microwave magnetron

Last night my wife accidently turned on the microwave with nothing inside. It probably ran for 15-20 minutes before I noticed a burning smell (burnt wiring) After opening the door I noticed the unit had no...

well I can tell you roughly what happened. You overheated the oven, as there was nothing inside to absorb the radiation. So the sensor shout off the power ( safety switch) It returns when the oven reduces in temperature. The burning may be due to internal damage to some of the insulation compound. It takes foreverf to get rid of smells from microwaves no matter what you use including vanill or some other anti stink medicine. The unit is probably OK but overtime will now begin to deteriorate and may even leak radiation to greater extent.

Dump it is my suggestion, but make sure it is damaged sufficiently to prevent dump rats from salvaging it and using it.

The unusual noise ( almost missed that) is damage to the rotation motor bearins that have been expanded and are now out of alignment.

Too risky!

Need to replace light inside kenmore microwave

Unplug the unit first.

To install the halogen lamp WB08X10050 you will need to take the cover off. You can see a diagram at;
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getSubComp.pd?modelNumber=36363693302&productCategoryId=0123370&brandId=0583&modelName=MICROWAVE&diagramPageId=00006&componentDescription=INTERIOR%20PARTS%20(2)&documentId=S9060341&backToLink=Return%20to%20Sub%20Components%20list

then click on "view full size"

This will give a view of the parts. Only remove the parts needed to get to the bulb.

Microwave smells of electrical fire

The magnetron inside the microwave is starting to short out to ground. This happens after use there are small minute cracks on the body of the magnetron and those small cracks are big enough for 15,000 volts and up to 30,000 volts to leak through and arc to ground. It is not a small short but a big one. Replace the magnetron before it burns holes inside your microwave. Replacing the magnetron if you can find it locally or through the internet is pretty straightforward. Unplug the microwave and take the cover off about 6 screws. On the same side as the control panel and right behind it you will find the microwave on top. It is held in place with only three to four big screws. It will have about 4 wires with terminals on them that plug into a couple of places one being the large capacitor that stores all the voltage and discharges it through the magnetron. Take the terminals off and I always recommend with some needle nose pliers with insulated handles. There is nothing to unsolder and to solder. Its like replacing the battery in your car or the electronic module. Take care and good luck.

Daewoo microwave that won't cook

More than likely a door switch inside the unit is misalligned or faulty. Crack it open and check for proper allignment and good open/closed circuits with a VOM.

This is usually a broken or misaligned door switch mount or possibly a bad door switch.

Yes, the fan blade is hitting something inside.Usually by opening the microwave, you can slide or reposition the plastic fan blade on the shaft.Probably this happened in shipping to the store where you bought it.CAUTON:make sure the unit is unplugged before you attempt this.Other option is return for replacement.
