ok I'll back up a bit I've worked on a few tvs before and been doing car stereo installs as well as remote car starters and some on board repairs I went to a tech school and work for a company for 15 years that did electronic repair before I went on my own so I've been around the pc board stuff and have done plenty of soldering and came run a volt/ ohms meter so what I first did was ordered the stk - 110 from mcm electronics I put them in and nothing changed so I ordered the kit from tv world I did replace the stks again as well as the 12 resistors that came with the kit I checked the resistance value of all 12 that I removed and they all check ok but I replaced them any way but I still have the same problem I believe I had the picture work twice when I was working with it - It has an excellent picture when it does work so the resistors that you mentioned in the last repley are they part of the 12 resistors I've already replaced if not were are they located and what tolerence do they need to be
thanks again for you help Brian

  • Brian Lange Feb 05, 2010

those resistors you talked about I found them on the schematic that tv world sent along when they sent the stks and the twelve resistors so I better go ohm them out to see what they are and no I don't know how to do the convergence for sure I am able to move the cross when I go to the menu section for convergence with the remote so I guess I'll go check those resistors first thing tomorrow and see what they test if there is any thing else you can think of that I should check please let me know I 'm excited about this help I do think there is something on the convergence board that is shuting down and hopefully one of those resistors is doing so thanks again Brian

  • Brian Lange Feb 05, 2010

Hey wow that pw convergence board (ssb-5051a-m2) at that Encompass Parts Dist. its only 75.00 dollars that would be alot cheaper and simplier than doing the piece by piece replacement but I guess I didn't know that till know so I let you know how I come out on the other resistors you told me to check thanks again for you time Brian

  • Brian Lange Feb 09, 2010

I have just rechecked the resistors on the convergence board and re- resoldered the board again and still the same thing plugging the tv in and than unplugging it and once in a while it will come on and the picture is very good it will run like that until it is shut off and than it may come on correctly but most generally it does not and than you have to play the unplugging and plugging in game it acts like maybe a weak capacitor or some thing like a voltage regulator just not getting the correct voltage at start up or or or I don't know any help would be appreciated thanks Brian

  • Brian Lange Feb 09, 2010

rylee still haveing problems with the jvc tv I resolded the convergence board and replaced all the resistors and both stks that tv world sent with the kit and still the tv will sometimes come on and work great and the nent dozen times you try it comes up with the color bars on the screen and 0r the green tube being the only one flickering on acts like a incorrect voltage in start up and when it changes a little bit it will start up and work fine untill it is shut of than it may start up fine but most generally it doesn't any thoughts Thanks Brian

  • Brian Lange Feb 10, 2010

yes I did check all the resistor they hav e been replaced and the stk-110 have been replaced twice still the same issuses the tv will come on and work very seldom sometimes the green tube will flicker on the top half of the screen and the red and blue tube never come on than depends on the time all the tubes light up and you just have the color bars on the screen the pictures is great when it does come on before I started the picture was blurry - doubled - ghosting and now the picture is great and it will stay good until you shut it off is there any thing else you can tell me to check maybe caps voltage regulators or if I were to replace the whole board from Encompass might that take care of the problem or maybe I had two different problems because the picture seem fine when it does work Maybe a power supply issuse thank in advance for you response Brian

  • Brian Lange Feb 10, 2010

Hey that sound like a plan I've herd of that before were one tube may be overdriving -- how much do I turn them and which way do i turn them --- can I put a volt meter some were and adjust all of them to the same voltage -- I do have a schematic for this tv on disc so I can look for location test points on that first if i need to - this tv is in a customers home so I'll wait to here from you on how to adjust them first before i go thank again Brain

  • Brian Lange Feb 24, 2010

Back again no success adjusting the screen focus/drive I also resoldered all three yokes the ic on the yoke board look like it had some cold solder on them but no luck again. the customer can turn tv on and off and when the picture comes on it is great and it will run all day like that but as soon as it is shut off it will go back to the color bar thing or a green screen on the top half that flickers never the same screen comes on so than next time it just come up great it did have a convergence issue because before the picture was all double and discolored but as my previous post have described i did change out the convergence chips and resistors so I think i had two problems do you have any more to suggestions that i can try

Do you know How to Enter Service Menu for convergence alinement? There is 3 Different methods for JVC

    ladywinn Feb 05, 2010

Encompass Parts Distrubtion has all the boards for this TV and Free Service manual you can print online from their website 1-800-638-3328. Go To their Website and type in your Model Number and it will list whatever they have for this TV.

You really should have replaced the STK ICs with 150s the 110s are Bad Not to hold up and even the 120s are better then the 110s, When you go back to recheck Circuit CK for any Broken tracks they will Look solder but the track is broken and I order my ICs thru Mats Electronics 1-800-628-1118

Let me tell you this also there is 2 types of setting convergence 1 is where the customer can aline

minor adjustments the 2 convergence alinement is For Service Techicians Only, this is what I meant by Entering into Service Menu set by Factory, First Recheck everything you have done, also resolder all 3 yoke plugins after you have done this you may have to go to Factory alinement to correct convergence if you do I have information on How To Enter Service Mode.

With TV on and front panel removed so you can adjust Focus/Screen Drives For Each Tube

Adjust Each Tube One at a Time Turn Green and Blue Off Then adjust Focus/S-Drive for Red Tube,Do this to Each Tube To adjust Green turn Red and Blue off,ETC....

After you have Clear Picture for each Tube then you will want to adjust All 3 Tubes to where you have a Black and White Picture

First Go To MENU TURN COLOR OFF After you have made adjustments and setting is a Black and White Picture,Adjust to as close to B-W as you can! Then Go Back To MENU and Turn Color Back ON. Clean off lenses to Top of each tube Also!

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. It seems you might have to change the board completely, also check the resistors as if they go bad you might have to do the repair again. Another reason could be the cold solder joints left out on the board and if the TV is too old then replacing the board completely will solve the issue, you can get a new one for around $65. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

    Brian,

This seems to be the issue with the voltage, I think its either not getting the voltage or maybe the power supply unit has gone bad, please click on this link to download the service manual and do the repair:

My 48'' jvc colorconvergence is out of wack how do I fix this what part needs to be replaced if any

convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK-392-120 IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually charge between $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

I have a jvc av48wp30 tv and need a wire diagram

Looking the convergence board from the side of the resistors (The chips will be behind the resistors), you have from de left to right:

1.5 ohms, 150ohms, 220ohms, 2.2ohms, 3.3 ohms, 220ohms, 1.8ohms, 220ohms, 150ohms, 150ohms, 1.5ohms, and dispose horizontal in relation of the other resistors (the one near to the Ic is 2.2ohms and the other is 220ohms).

Hope this helps...

IC's for JVC AV-48WP30

you need two STK392-110 convergence ICs. You can get them at the following link with free instructions on how to replace them. They actually have the repair kit for your model which contains both convergence ICs and the convergence resistors.
Heres the link.

JVC AV-48WP30 tv(convergence)

This is a convergence board problem. Have a tech replace convergence IC's. The part no. starts with STK. If you are good in soldering and know how to test resistors, you can do it.

If the convergence Ics and resistors are good its most likely related to the velocity boards that are attached to the Red CRT convergence yoke. Its the small board about half way up the neck of the CRT. If you need one let me know as I have a source for JVC boards for that model.
