SOURCE: pfaff 1222 and pfaff 1229

Have a certified repairman look at the power board in the machine. The power supply circuits are broken on the board itself. Can be repaired with wire and solder. How do I know? Just fixed my wifes 1229 that had the same problem.

P.S. New boards are NOT available from PFAFF or anyone else

SOURCE: Machine slows down, stops, starts again. Foot control problem?

Yes it does sound like a faulty foot control. The power cord is probably fine, you just need the controller. Ebay is a good source for parts.

SOURCE: The foot control just stopped

if there is power to the machine itself then it is probably not the fuse. if the entire machine is off then you need to change the main fuse in the plug (the one you plug into the wall socket).

first, unplug the pedal from the machine and plug it back in securely again. it may have just worked loose.
if the machine itself still has power,it may be an internal fault in the pedal, but it is quite likely that there is a broken wire in the foot pedal.
this is a fairly common problem with sewing machines as the foot pedal gets moved about and has the cord wrapped up when the machine is put away. eventually this can break one of the wires in the same way that bending a paperclip repeatedly will snap it.

if this is the case then the break will almost certainly be within 1" of the pedal.
it can be repaired quite easily by cutting out the break and reconnecting the wire inside the pedal but i would not recommend trying this yourself unless you are quite confident with electrical wiring.
an electrician would also be able to test that the footpedal itself is working properly and rule out any faults with the pedal itself.

please feel free to ask for more details if you have a 240v electrical test meter and would like detailed testing instructions.

How to tighten presser foot on Kenmore sewing machine a 1950's model

The adjustment of the presser foot is always directly above the foot; usually on top of the machine. It is a hand adjustment that can be rotated to adjust the pressure of the foot. It is possible that you may have to remove the end of the machine (one screw) or pull it open if a door type. In back of this is the adjustment. Anyway, the main thing to remember is that the control is directly above the foot somewhere.

Bernina machine starts sewing anfmten stops or doesn't start at all.

Be sure that you regularly clean and oil your Bernina. If not oiled regularly, the old oil turns to varnish and actually freezes the parts. Some people believe something is wrong with the motor or foot control, when really it just needs some TLC to keep it running smoothly.

May be one of several issues--depends on the model Bernina. Could be a problem with the foot control. I had to replace a carbon brush in the foot control of my 930. (A new foot control could cost over $160!)

Sewing Foot Control Replacement

Or some machines (mostly older models, ie 830 Records) have carbon brushes on the motor that wear with age. Once they've worn down, they no longer make constant contact giving you the "intermittent" issue. I've replaced carbon brushes on some older Berninas--usually found somewhere around the motor (look for a screw or knob on the motor). You can buy replacements a lot of places. I've purchased them on eBay.

How fix singer foot control fuse broken lots little discs fell out of control

You didn't specify a model, but foot pedals are generally used by a wide variety of models of machines. Go to eBay and enter your machine's model number, and you'll probably see foot pedals for your model of machine for sale.

Loose stitching on underside of Pfaff 1222 sewing machine

It is in your top threading, believe it or not. Sounds odd but it is. Try this, insert a new needle (flat side facing the rear of machine), totally rethread according to your manual or go to for a free threading diagram, make sure that your presser foot is up, now when you are totally threaded, with the presser foot still up, pull on the top thread, it should feed smoothly, put the presser foot down and pull the thread again, it should barely move. This should seat the thread in the tension discs. If that doesn't do it, I am afraid that you may need a repair shop. Good luck.

Pfaff 1222 Bobbin holder stuck with thread

With power off, take the needle out and the presser foot. Remove the two flathead screws that secure the needle plate from the machine and remove the plate. You'll have a top view of the bobbin housing and see the thread that's stuck to it.
