Question about Chamberlain Powerdrive PD422D 1/2 HP Security Plus Screw Drive Garage Door Opener

1 Answer

Remote My Chamberlain remote works sporadically. We have both the remote that came with the system and a built-in remote in one of our cars. At times it will open from the street in front of the house; other times you have to be almost touching the door with the car; and other times it doesn't work at all. Not a battery issue because the it happens in the car with the built-in system too. The antenna is not obstructed on the unit.

The unit is not in a metal building.

Just after a recent thunderstorm I found my garage door up. Now I can get it to work only sporadically from the touchpad or the remotes. HELP!

I have the same problem. I also have both remotes..both cars with built in remotes and sometimes I also have to almost touch the garage door with the car to open it. Other times it doesn't work at all. Even the remote keypad gives me problems. Sometimes I just press the open button repeatedly as I drive up to the garage and I get lucky and the door opens. Those times I feel like buying a lottery ticket because of how lucky I was to open the door. Is it possible that there are interfering frequency signals from other devices causing this. I have Brinks wireless components and 5.8Ghz cordless phones.

If it happens to both remotes and the built in system the problem has to be with the reciever in the unit or antenna, where you have this unit is it inside a metal building? if so you may need to move the antenna outside the building.
good luck

Try programming this way. Hold the button down on your remote and then press and immediately release the smart/learn button. If this doesn't do it your remote may be bad. The wall control is hard wired and doesn't use the receiver that your remote does.

Chamberlain remote has stopped working, new

WHEN YOU CHANGE THE BATTERY NO NEED TO REPROGRAM THE REMOTE.
THE FLASHING LIGHT TELLS YOU IT IS SENDING A SIGNAL THAT IS BEING RECIEVED IT IS JUST NOT THE CORRECT CODE TO OPEN THE DOOR.
REPROGRAMING THE REMOTE SHOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM

Sounds like a bad board in the main drive unit. If you call their customer service, they will walk you thru a short troubleshoot, then more than likely send you a new board. The phone # is 630-279-3600 located in illinois. have your model # and serial # ready. serial # will be on the PC board of the main unit. Hope this helps

Chamberlain 1/2 hp Model # 82000 remotes not working

get a referral to a garage door guy! First off, make sure you have not activated "Lock" on console. If not, recode remote by hitting LEARN button on motor for 1 second and pusjing a button on remote. Light bulb on motor should blink 2x. Repeat for each remote you are having problem with. Should do it.

Chamberlain garage door opener unit-is it compatible with craftsman keypad?

Hello,Linda well this is your lucky day ,I have installed garage door openers for sears for 10 years and i can tell you that craftsman, chamberlain ,and liftmaster are all the same machine and manufactured under the liftmaster name , if you buy it from home depot it will be a chamberlain ,if you buy it at sears ,it will be a craftsman, and if you go to commercial building supplier it will be a liftmaster! now getting that out of the way even though they are all compatible ,there is one thing that stands in their way and that,s time ,For example if your chamberlain machine is 5 years old and you went to sears last week ,the chances of the frequency being the same are not good , most likely you have the wireless keypad , one way to test the sears keypad against the chamberlain machine is to locate the smart button on your machine ,this button allows for programming of remotes and keypads , to test and see exactly what im talking about take your remote and locate the smart button ,if you have three buttons on the remote press one of the buttons that are not being used on the remote ,above the smart button their will be a blinking light ,if you press your remote button you will notice the light go from a blink to a rapid flash , This is telling you that you are sending a signal for programming to the machine , well the keypad is exactly the same all you have to do is push the enter button on the keypad and have someone watch for the rapid blinking light ,if they are compatible the light will blink rapidly on the machine so all you have to do now is have someone press the smart button once on the machine your indicator light will now be a solid light you will have approx 60 seconds then to put a 4 digit code in the keypad and then press and hold down the enter button on the keypad , at this point you will notice the lightbulbs on the chamberlain machine to shut off and come back on this is to tell you that the machine accepted the code , after thats been done you can use your keypad , you can also find the owners manual to the chamberlain and follow the same instructions to programming the remote , they are identical in programing , if your keypad is not the same frequency you can also tell by looking at the frequency code on the backside of the keypad and also the chamberlain unit usually where the light bulb is will be its code

Openers remote

Depending on the age of the unit some remotes dont work with other openers because of the frequency that the remotes work on.
