Question about Garmin nuvi 205 GPS Receiver

Voice does not work. Have reset to defaults on numerous occassions, unit works, but no voice.

Garmin Nuvi 265 wt...how to get voice command to work?


Hi,
this may require two sessions but - here goes:
1- turn the unit on - select the VOICE icon on the opening screen - triple check it isn't muted and change it to 90% voice volume.
If this doesn't give you sound WHILE DRIVING - it won't give you voice unless you're moving or driving.

Then - turn the unit off - Turn it back on- - as it is starting up - and blank- place your thumb in the LOWER RIGHT CORNER of the blank Screen.

SELECT - YES - it will reboot and your minor settings will be lost - like saved address and favorites - not your updated maps.

This will reset you to default NEW -
When done - sound will be as it was when new if no sound - return for repair.

Depending on the type of voicemail you have, you''ll have to login to the admin mailbox. That's done by pressing your voicemail key or intercom 777. If you have a Partnermail VS the admin mailbox is 99 with the default password of 1234. If you mave a Partner Messaging System the admin mailbox is 0 with a default password of 1234 or 123456. Once your into the admin mailbox press 9 for admin programming. ,(depending on version) press either 2 or 4 administer extensions, enter the mailbox number of the box you want to reset, press 3 to re initalize the password, hang up when done. Your password will be the defaulted to1234.

My Garmin street pilot c550 has lost its voice, how do I get it back.


I am going to make some assumptions here. First, that the unit was working properly, giving voice directions, and now is not doing so. Second, that the volume wheel on the right side of the unit is set all the way up and you are not hearing any voice directions.

If those assumptions are correct, when you turn the unit on, press the wrench button at the bottom of the screen. Next, press the down arrow on the bottom right of the screen. Now press the "Volume" button. Make sure "Navigation" is at the level you desire (100% works well for me).

Again from the main screen, press the button marked "Locale." Next to the lip icon, make sure the correct voice (whichever you desire) is selected.

If this does not help, try resetting the unit. Remove the faceplate (there is an indentation under the top) and press the reset button on the right side of the unit. If this does not work, you can try a Master Reset, but be aware: IT WILL ERASE ALL OF YOUR FAVORITES. To do a Master Reset, press and hold the bottom right of the screen while pressing the power button. Release both buttons when the unit resets. Let me know if this helps.

  5. Remove your finger from the touchscreen when this message displays
  6. Touch Yes

The device will automatically reset. Please follow the on screen prompts on the nuvi and when completed place your device in an area with a clear view of the sky until it acquires satellites.

It just stopped talking. No voice directions, on


Hit the menu buttom, go to settings, then go to volume and see if it is muted. Sounds like the mute or volume down button got inadvertantly hit and turned down or muted. If this does not work, turn the unit over and look under the fold up antenna for a reset button. Depress this button until the unit restarts and should reset the unit back to factory default settings and get you on your way. Good luck!!! I cannot understand what recent calls or voice mail has got to do with favorites.

If the voice mail is not working, then the voice mail settings may be wrong.

If the call list is not working, then do a reset to factory default from phone settings menu.

Voice won't work


Have you dtried reseting the GPS. Turn Off unit, take out SD card, at the back of the unit there is a tiny reset button push this with a end of a paperclip and then turn back on and re input the SD card this should return your voice.
