To be more precise here is what I did to find out why the Set Top Box did not stay ON....The Remote control unit is loaded with brand new battery and send the signal but the green light does not say ON????

The Set Top Box was only plugged into an electrical outlet to assectained that the problem was with that unit and not with the TV or whatever else.

  • jnpatenaude Feb 04, 2010

I disconnected the Set Top Box from the TV and the Antenna and useonly the electrical outlet to have power to this unit and it still did not remained lighted. So the problem is definitely with the Set Top Box

The job of the technican is to look at the problem and decide based on training what needs to be done to repair it, all you need to do is show him what u think is wrong, then he does the reset, so no instructions are needed here. does and he will figure out what is needed to repair the problem.

Hello. Install new batteries in the remote and then try it again. If the new batteries do not solve the problem remove them and clean the battery contacts of the remote with the eraser on a common pencil and then install the new batteries again paying close attention to the polarity [the + and the -]. If the batteries are installed backwards you will never solve your problem. Finally, if these steps do not solve the issue call the service provider and speak with the technician there. Ask them to check your signal. Also, make sure that your tv is set to the correct channel to operate with your top box. [often you set the tv to channel 3 or channel 4 and leave it there and then you use the remote to change channels on your top box only.] regards, Joe

Mitsubishi WS-65908 will not stay on

Its a color convergence problem from description:

If green light comes on for a few seconds and goes off:

On the front of the set (not the remote) press and hold both the menu and input (device) buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds and release both.

Watch power light: it will blink a two digit error code, in your case I suspect it will be 2 blinks, 2 blinks and repeat several times.

Let me know error code and I will help.

How do i program my remote

Hello;

Without knowing the codes for the specific brand names and models of your devices, this is how you program the Zenith MBR3447 for your TV, VCR, DVD Player, CD Player or Audio Receiver:

TV

1. Push the "Power" button on the TV to turn it on.
2. Press and hold the "PRG" button in the upper left corner of the remote. Release when the indicator light, located in the top center of the remote control, comes on.
3. Push the "TV" mode key located at the top of the remote.
4. Enter 0 -- 0 -- 0 on the remote's number pad, then press the "Enter" button.
5. Aim the remote control in the direction of the TV's IR sensor and push the "Power" button. Pause a second. If the TV fails to shut off, push the "Power" button again. Repeat until the TV does shut off. Each time the "Power" button is pressed the Zenith MBR3447 tries using a different TV device code from its code library to turn the TV off. Therefore, when the TV finally does shut off it's an indication that the remote is temporarily programmed with the correct device code to control the brand of TV you're using.
6. Press "Enter" to save the current code.

VCR

1. Push the "Power" button on the VCR to turn it on.
2. Press and hold the "PRG" button in the upper left corner of the remote. Release when the indicator light, located in the top center of the remote control, comes on.
3. Push the "VCR" mode key located at the top of the remote.
4. Enter 0 -- 0 -- 0 on the remote's number pad, then press the "Enter" button.
5. Aim the remote control in the direction of the VCR's IR sensor and push the "Power" button. Pause a second. If the VCR fails to shut off, push the "Power" button again. Repeat until the VCR does shut off. Then press "Enter."

DVD Player, CD Player or Audio Receiver

1. Push the "Power" button on the device your programming the remote to control to manually turn it on.
2. Press and hold the "PRG" button in the upper left corner of the remote. Release when the indicator light, located in the top center of the remote control, comes on.
3. Push the "AUX" mode key located at the top of the remote.
4. Enter 0 -- 0 -- 0 on the remote's number pad, then press the "Enter" button.
5. Aim the remote control in the direction of the device's IR sensor and push the "Power" button. Pause a second. If the device fails to shut off, push the "Power" button again. Repeat until the device does shut off. Then press "Enter."

How do i program tv aND DIRECT TV BOX FROM SCRATCH?

You need to turn on your television set.
  • On your DirecTV remote, press the "TV" button once.
  • Now, press and hold the "Setup" button until the "TV" light goes off.
  • Enter "991" on your remote control, using the numeric keypad. The "TV" light on the remote should blink twice.
  • Aim your remote at the television and slowly alternate between pressing "TV and "Power" on your remote, until the television set turns off. Once it turns off, press "Setup" on your remote control to lock in the code.
  • To search for codes for other devices and program them into your remote, repeat Steps 1 to 5, but use the appropriate key for your device instead of "TV."

try pushing a button that you don't normally use (like the VCR "play" button) for a few seconds and see if the green light at the top stays on steady, if not, you have weak batteries.

Yes, most likely the sensor is at fault - more precisely it's connections to the motherboard are iffy. You must take the back cover off the tv and reseat them. While you are there check their soldering points - with age they tend to melt and get loose.

Need the code to set the technika remote to ma toshiba telly

Maybe you could try the auto-set. Found this using google:
    Auto code search

    1. switch on the TV and select a channel eg. Bbc1 on the TV itself
    2. press the appropriate device button eg. TV
    3. press the green SET button for approx 5 seconds until the red light comes on.
    4. release the green SET button and point the remote at the device to be controlled, the remote will emit a test signal about every 2 seconds.
    5. when the TV switches itself off briefly press the green SET button to store the code found.
    6. when the red light goes out the search is ended.
    7. try out the remote if it works follow the same steps to set it to other devices eg. DVD. If it does not work follow the steps again.
cover other remote sensors on other devices when setting the remote.

My thomson dti 6300 250gb free view box wont turn on

Emailed Topuptv and got this reply

    Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for contacting Top Up TV.

Please note that we are currently aware of an issue affecting some Thomson DTi6300 boxes.

If your DTR will not come out of standby and is not responding to your remote control, please try the following procedures.

    Step 1: Power cycle
First of all, remove the power to the box and wait 20 seconds before restoring power.
Wait while the box tries to restart and allow 2 -3 minutes for this to complete.
    Try this at least twice.
If it doesn't go to the solid green light then proceed to the next step.

    Step 2: Front Panel Reset

Note: This procedure will unfortunately cause you to lose all of the recordings that you have stored on the box. You will need to be able access the back of the DTR and the front panel buttons

    1. Remove power to the unit by removing the power cable from the back of the DTR.
    2. Wait 20 seconds and restore the power cable while holding in the standby/power on button on the front panel of the DTR.
    3. Release the standby button immediately you see a light 'blip' on the DTR front display and then immediately press the following front panel arrow buttons in sequence Up>Down>Left>Right
4.The DTR will now show the Orange LED with the Green LED flashing until the format has been completed in about 60 seconds. The DTR will return to ON automatically.
    5. If requested, perform a channel scan to complete the operation.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Our Customer Services department can also be contacted on 08444 159 159. However, please note that we are currently experiencing high call volumes and so may not be able to answer your call as quickly as we would like.

    Kind Regards,

    No startup

For my FTR9965, it is necessary to physically unplug the
power cord from the box before you are able to enter the service codes. The sequence is:

    1. Unplug the box for a few seconds.

    2. Plug it in again.

    3. Turn on the box with the front panel power switch. Wait for the green light to come on.

    4. From the remote, quickly enter 062596 plus the info key.

    5. A message comes on the monitor warning you that you could really screw things up if you don't know what you're doing, and do you really want to continue? If yes, hit any button on the remote. You only have a few seconds to respond.

    6. The "stand alone" option is near the end of the "service" menu list. When you find it, change the "no" to "yes".

    7. Go back to the main SAM menu, scroll down to "Store", and hit OK. I'm assuming this makes the "yes" selection permanent.

    8. Enter "00" to exit SAM.
