Hi,
I,m not 100% sure on this. But A 5700 error on canon printers.
Would mean that the paper sensor has failed, or is not working.
Hope this Helps.

chances are there is still some packaging strip or materials left inside your printer, nor any obstruction in the paper path, or the sensor device isnt tripped off

Canon is fairly standard with their error codes no matter the model. Error Code 5700 basically means the paper sensor is not working properly. If this is the case then you will need to buy another printer. Most repair shops will charge more to fix the old one then you would spend on a new one. Sorry for the bad news. Although, I would strongly suggest you contact Canon Tech Support to validate this information. You can reach them at the number below between 8AM and 12 Midnight EST. Good Luck!

Turned it on, off many times as instructions suggest,
etc no dice. Reinstalled software, did everything including giving it a few taps.I was very seriously ready to buy a new one and trash this one, even checking flyers. I read where so my are having this same problem.
In my anger I started pushing all the buttons randomly and suddenly the green light stayed on.
Voila the crazy thing works fine again. Must have reset the glych somehow ?(I have no idea how)
Give it a try before giving up, who knows!!

What is error code 5700?

Hi,

I have seen this error a few times through the use of our inklink products.

The error 5700 is as follows:
This error takes place when feeding paper
from the ASF after an error occurred in the
ASF cam sensor.

Make sure that there is no paper jammed in the printer and nothing is blocking the paper path.

Error code 5700

the error code you have supplied does not provide enough information to resolve this issue.

download and install this small repair utility from Canon for your printer-

http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0038012_0010487.asp?model=

follow the on-screen instructions and it will diagnose your issue and provide a solution.

if this does not resolve your problem reply to this post with the result of the software's diagnosis.

Error 5700 on lcd screen tried turning it on and off problems not resolved, its only 6months old

5700 is an error in the paper feeder unit, could be a broken gear, or sensor. The only repair is to replace the sheet feed unit. Canon gives a one year warranty, should be repaired at no charge to you. 1800-OKCanon

MP520 ERROR 5700

5700 is a ASF cam error most likely. Here the Canon proceedure for fixing it!
DESCRIPTION: 5 Alternating Blinks (SFP) / ##356 (MFP) - ASF Cam Sensor Error
SOLUTION(S): Adjust the Screws & Main Case Unit
Movement (i.e. from shipping) may cause the plastic guide to move away from the chassis. When this
occurs, the gears cannot rotate properly causing a grinding noise and 5 alternating blinks (SFP) or ##356
(MFP) - ASF Cam Sensor Error.
Procedures
Step 1: Remove the Left and Right Covers and the Main Case Unit (main cover).
Step 2: Remove the 4 mounting screws from the Chassis.
Step 3: Remove the Main Unit from the Bottom Case.
Step 4: Turn the Main Unit over (upside down) and place on work surface.
Step 5: Inspect the ASF section of the Main Unit for a gap between the white plastic guide and the Chassis.
Note: The size of the gap varies. Even if the gap is not visible, complete the steps
below.
Step 6: Disconnect the appropriate cables and remove the Logic Board from the Chassis.
Step 7: Loosen (do not remove) the 4 mounting screws (the mounting screws can be found behind the
logic board) on the Chassis.
Step 8: Re-seat the white plastic guide so it sits flush against the Chassis. The tip of the white plastic
guide should sit slightly inside the
mounting screw hole. When seated correctly, the gap will no longer be present.
Step 9: Tighten the 4 mounting screws without
causing the plastic guide to shift.
Step 10: Reassemble the printer and retest.

hope this helps
