Question about Dell 1600n All-In-One Laser Printer

1 Answer

ADF works only in vertical.

Hi. I haver two Dell 1600n with the same problem. If you try to use the ADF, it takes the paper but stops at the middle of the scan (for copy, fax o scan, it doesn't matter) with an error of [paper jam]. I have checked the three sensors it has, and they seem to be right.
The most strange is that if de ADF is not horizontal, but vertical (you turn the printer so it lays on its back), it works perfectly.
Any ideas?.
thank you in advantage.

Paco.

Sounds like a paper jam sensor. Most sensors are spring-loaded and will move in one direction, then back when the paper is feeding. If the process works when the printer is on its back, you are likely using gravity to bypass the sensor's intended operation. Sensor is not swinging in either direction as paper passes through, therefore it is not reporting any blockage/jams.

DELL 1600N ADF JAM. IT ISNT PICKING UP THE PAPER. THE GEARS ARE TURNING BUT IT ISNT GRABBING

Hi I had the original problem too, but the cheapest replacement part I could find is 30 pounds.
So I stuck a piece of sellotape over the white bit and trimmed the edges so it didn't catch the paper on the way over. Works for the moment.

Frequent paper jams on a Dell 1600n AIO, sometimes doesn't grab the paper from the tray (not really a jam, just need to open and close tray), sometimes gets caught halfway through the path -- need to open...

This could be caused from the papers you use at times(weight). Call on a Dell representative to check it out for you if you bought it from a Dell shop.

Thanks

Document Jam in Dell 1600n

The Automatic Document Feed (ADF) has a white rubber pad that wears out. You can find it by opening the ADF cover and removing the roller bar. Under that is the white rubber pad. Pinch the sides together and the assembley comes out. Contact Dell for the replacement. You may also refer to the Dell 1600n Owners Manual for instructions.

Printer Problem

Clean the small glass strip on the left side of the scanner. There is probably some dirt there and will only show up when using the ADF.

Dell 1600n: Toner marks down the center of the page.

There are 2 seperate glass areas on the top, the large one is for when you lift the cover to scan or copy, the little narrow one is when you use the ADF. If there is a dot or a spec on the narrow part, it will leave the streak on the page, Clean the narrow part really well. I use a foaming window cleaner, and a razor blade.
You may also want to check to see if there are any small scratches on that glass. That will cause the same thing to happen.

Dell 1600n ADF Problem

You have either a piece of dust or a scratch on the scanning glass. This will show up as a line because the paper is pulled across the point.
