Rotating ring/ Glide tray comes off the track -Elite Model 80803

I have tried everything to try to get my rotating/gliding tray to work smoothly, but to no avail. It continually jumps off track and bangs around. The shaft seems to rotate fine, it's the other parts that I can't get to work well.
Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Yes. Complete POS design. It does help to keep the little wheels and
the area on which they roll clean. It also helps to center the weight
of the item over the little wheel under the glass. Even then it's hit
    or miss.

I have the same problem. Worked fine for about the first year, then the carousel assembly began to jump out of it's track. I have not been able to determine the cause.

Mine is a Model #80833500 (Kenmore Elite) and I have the same problem.  We bought the home brand new with the new appliances and the microwave worked properly in the beginning, but then started messing up.   This is so frustrating.   The bumping and jumping off the track drives me crazy.   If anyone figures this out, please post the solution.

We have the same problem with Kenmore Elite 721.80839500

We have a Master Protection Agreement. Has anyone had any luck getting it fixed through that?

Just want to reiterate what others have already described: Sears Elite microwave model 721.80833500 rotating tray constantly jumps off track no matter how I align the parts - clanging loudly and spilling contents and raising stress levels. For an "elite" product, this is totally unacceptable - Sears should be more forthcoming with a solution. Short of raiding the local Sears store as recommended below - which I will probably try - I have no idea what to do!

Take your round glass tray and plastic three wheeled hoop to a local Sears store, open up the microwaves on display, find the one that is still using something similar, deftly trade out yours for theirs. The new wheeled plastic hoop wheels are slightly bigger and the glass tray raised guides are a bit longer, since the switch no problems like I had. Don't get caught. They do not have those parts for sale at the local Sears store.

Order the newer glass and tray ring but did not completely fix the problem. Glass tray had longer grooves but tray ring did not have larger wheels. Still have problem with the derailing and noise.

Hi

I've read Wolverine's suggestion and ordered the kit from Sears. I'll write back and let you all know what I find.

Thanks, Mickey

I bought a house with this Microwave - no instructions etc.Should there be a glass tray for it - I know it's an older model

If there is a recess for a tray and a drive in the middle of the floor of the oven, then it should have a rotating tray. My microwave is about 30 years old and has a rotating tray.

Our Kenmore model 721.80833500 tray jumps off its track. This has progressively gotten worse over time and now the little end wheel on the rotating arm has broken off. The microwave still works and still...

Found 2 possible solutions on the net. (1) Check the engineering change at a Sears store. They reengineered the glass tray and the narrow plastic band the tray glides on. Get the new items from Sears. (2) Cut 1/4" out of the narrow plastic band the glass tray glides on. Possible solutions that look promising.

Loud RATTLE LIKE HUMM!!

That's what they do - plenty of focused energy at work here. However, try removing the rotating food tray and, with just a glass of water in the oven (never run it empty!) see if the hum goes away. If so, it's the tray driver/carrier.

Microwave rotating assembly jumps up and stops turning.

I would bet the arm ("ring assembly") is either worn or warped from heat? and is not meshing well with the motor shaft or glass tray.

That is part number 4351W1A003A and you can get it for only $6.30 (compared to over sixteen via Sears) from Tritronics.

The motor is part # 6549W1S018C and if it's the culprit, you can get that for $24.84 from Tritronics, compared to almost thirty-two from Sears.

You should look again and see how loose the arm is on the shaft and which might be worn or warped or out of perpendicular. I think that one of these is the problem.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

But it needs to be the full model number, not the partial you show in your post.

Turntable goes off track

It may be bent at the points where the "legs" meet the center hub. It may be very subtle. It would be useful to see how well it rests in place on the coupler with the tray off and with it on. Seems like it should be a mechanical alignment or wear issue.

Problem with guide tray and glass tray

I would suspect that the wheels are worn on the turntable support (if it's the wheeled type) or it may be a coupler problem. Could you post the entire correct model number so I can look it up?
