Neff U1721 repeatedly trips RCD. Have replaced lower element 4 times in last 18 months am I likely to have an underlying earth fault, or are "cheap" elements more prone to failure

Thanks, is there a DIY test I can do? I have had the oven out and fully disconnected from the wall supply in the past. I will check tomorrow that there is no damage to the wall connetion or any part of the oven wiring.

Had the oven out and partially dismantled this morning. No visible damage to wiring or loose connections. No visible damage to element but some roughness on an area where the two parts of the element are very close together and may have come into contact due to heat expansion. Put everything back together and RCD tripped after approx 8 minutes.

Had oven apart again today, latest situation...........
Element not faulty, runs for hours with door open at full power, RCD trips 1 min after closing door.

Bypassed the thermocouple override and repeated the results

It appears the RCD only trips when the oven starts to reach temperature internally and "cycles" the element off. Is this likely to be the thermostat shorting? ahd top off and can see no wiring damage or evidence of burning in insulation or wires etc

Sounds more like the power supplying the oven is at fault. Need to make sure that all power is correct from stove to box. Very unusual for that many elements to be going bad.

The lower oven is causing the RCB to trip after 10-15 minutes. Is this a sign the element is on its way out? Measuring the leakage current with a meter, the current is slowly building from 0.1 until the...

In my experience, you would be well advised to fit a genuine element, I have fitted several copy elements, and they were only lasting 6 months.
It is worth the extra cost.
I would concur with you that it will be the element that is causing the trouble, as the insulation resistance is breaking down as it gets hotter.
Good luck.

Neff U1410 main oven trips the main RCD. Occurs

I have a u1421 with the same problem! I notice the fan doesnt run too well, sometimes it doesnt run at all, needs a prod to get it running. I suspect with no fan, that the element gets far too hot, and then starts to leak to earth, tripping the RCD. I'm gonna try buying a new fan motor - you should ckeck if your fan is running full speed OK.

Lower oven not heating up everything else is working fine

hi, we have had the same problem. You can order the element from many places online, the cheapest is about £25 ranging up to £60 from neff themselves. Fitting it is ok the hardest part is getting the fan off to change the actual element. However, be warned, we are now on our 4th element and it just went again last night. Neff deny that this is a known fault that the elements keep going. However, at least 10 of our neighbours have had the same problem with their oven too!

Oven has stopped working

The main oven element has failed, you need to fit a new element.
If you remove the rear cover in the oven , you will see the element.
Disconnect and replace. Be care ful not to lose the wires behind the aperture.
Plz rate my solution.

Main oven problem

I suspect not the oven element at fault. you only way forward is to actually test the resistance of the element to earth with a megga if you can beg the use of one. be cautious about the result as on occasion, elements are only faulty to earth when hot. another way to test if you are cdarefull, is to connect the element to mains independently of the oven and see if the rcd trips
