You note that the underdash panel, Fuse 12 (15AMP) refer to the instrument cluster, anti-theft, ignition switch. I suggest check this wiring vehicle.

I don't know what year your town car is but fuse number 12 for early to mid 90s towncars is

speed control, stop lamps, hazard lamps and warning lamps.

You can easily tell if this is the fuse or not by seeing if your hazards o rother lamps work. Let me know what year your car is I will see if this is similar. Here is the complete diagram for a 94 town car.

  • David S. Feb 04, 2010

Did you check to see if your hazards do not work? I wouldn't think linoln would completley rearrange the fuse panel over a 4 year period.

  • David S. Feb 05, 2010

Don't know what else to say man, indications that I saw for fuse number 12 had nothing to do with the anti-theft module but I was looking at a 94-95 town car. I will suggest that you go get the Chiltons manual for lincoln town cars. They are very helpful for the DIY mechanic. I haqve bought a few of these and they have always helped. Good luck.

Why would a mdl 1035 john deere tractor keep blowing the starter fuse

There is a distinct possibility that this tractor was originally equipped with a 6 volt system. If it has been upgraded to a 12 volt starter, the ignition will need to have a resistor installed to bring it back to 6 volts.
I could be all wrong on this but it's worth checking.

My Phoenix Gold MX 1230 12 channel amplifier 4 mode buss system keeps blowing the power fuse.

When any amp blows the fuse like this suspect an overload in either the power supply or main amp sections. Most likely caused by a sem-conductor that is acting like a piece of wire. Chances are it will be one or more transistors on the heat sink that's gone.

Keeps blowing the fuse for the turn signals and instrument panes on 2006 RSV

Keep in mind a blown fuse indicates and overload situation.
There is a short somewhere in the system.
Have the wiring system checked.
Things you can do yourself,
1. Check for water collection in the turn signals or instrument panel.
(If found dry out and seal to prevent repeat contamination)
Blinkers easy.... instrument panel you may want some professional.:)
2. Turn on blinkers and twist the handle bars full left then full right.
If the fuse blows during either of these two operations note which one.
Left or right then check the wiring running to that blinker. You may
find the short this way.
3. Check the battery before and after engine start up.
Your voltage should be around 12.6 volts rested. Engine not running.
Your voltage will probably be 13 volts Plus with the engine running.
Over 14 volts this could be why the fuse is blowing.
Have the rectifier checked.

Gel-cells resting voltage 12.9 to 13 volts

The basics:
First things first. A 12-volt battery is not a 12-volt battery. Twelve volts is just a nominal, convenient term used to distinguish one battery from another. A fully-charged 12-volt battery, allowed to "rest" for a few hours (or days) with no load being drawn from it (or charge going to it), will balance out its charge and measure about 12.6 volts between terminals.
When a battery reads only 12 volts under the above conditions, it's almost fully depleted. Actually, if a battery's resting voltage is only 12.0 to 12.1 it means only 20 to 25% of its useful energy remains. It's either a goner or it has been deep cycled, and a battery can only be deep-cycled a limited number of times before it is indeed dead.

Hope this helps!

I replaced the stereo systems and for some reason it keeps blowing fuses ...which even the windshild whipers wont work... i change out the fuses and it will work for a short time and blow out again...i...

If you had someone else install this system and you didn't have the fuse blowing trouble before that, and if the fuses don't blow if you aren't using the radio, then they certainly have done something wrong. See a manager and keep pushing to talk to someone higher up. You might also consider contacting the Better Business Bureau in your area if you can't get help.

Now having said all that, there may be a simple wiring error at fault. Most radios have two fused power lines: one is a constant 12-volt line from the battery (to keep the clock going, remember your last settings, and so on) and the other is a 12-volt line that's switched on by the ignition key. This is the one that provides power when the radio is on, and it's got a higher-rated fuse than the other line. If the installer tapped power for the switched 12-volt line from somewhere that is being protected by another, lower-amp, fuse, the radio may just be drawing more current than that fuse can handle. So, poof it goes and anything else on that circuit goes out as well.

Make sure the switched 12-volt line is supplied direct from an accessory connection at the fuse block in the passenger compartment, or before any other fuses if tapping some other circuit for power.

Good luck, and I hope I've been able to help. Thanks for using Fixya!

According to my info, each of these items has its own fuse. ARe you saying 1 fuse keeps blowing?

If a fuse blows, it means a wire is shorted to ground or that an item the fuse is protecting, is bad.

A good way to diagnose this, is to place a 12 volt buzzer or bulb in place of the fuse that keeps blowing. This will give you a light or buzz noise. Then, you disconnect times or wire connectors until the noise stops or the light goes out. Then investiagte that circuit.

Fuse #12 for 2000 lincoln towncar keeps blowing

fuses are a safety device. they are made to blower when to much load is drawn over them. some component on the circuit is shorting out. if possible unplug all the items on that circuit. put in a new fuse, then reconnect component one at a time until the fuse blows again. a process of elimantion. it may take some time, but it will be expensive to take it to a dealership.
