SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts protects the card from writing, the position nearest the contacts enables writing. If the switch is already toward the contacts, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

If that doesn't work, try a different card.

Why my ge x5oo is write protect?? all of may picture i can't delete???ang i want take a picture may ge x500 say write protect pls help me

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

What is "write protect" I am unable to delete pictures from my sd card like i have been before while n my ge A735 camera or by placing it in my computer when camera is in playback mode and i go to menu...

Hello. Remove your SD card and look carefully at the edges of it. you will see a little lock which prevents you from deleting any pictures. Just unlock it and reinsert it. Joe

What does 'Write Protect' mean and how do I get rid of it?

That means that your SD card (or whichever memory card you use) is write protected and you cannot edit the card's content in any way.

Take your memory card out of the camera and plug it into your computer. There should be a place for you to change the memory card's protections that way. Sometimes, as with USB drives, there might be a small sliding lock physically located on the card which will also write protect the device.

LENS ERROR

My daughter had the same problem with her pink A735. I tried removing the batteries, resetting the default settings and every combination of buttons. Finally I grabbed the lens as it was opening and forced it out all the way. There was about 1/8" that it was short of being fully extended. This fixed the camera for at least a while, but it sounds like there is a problem with the mechanism as it clicks every time the lens deploys and retracts now. I suspect this is a short term fix, but if you are planning on tossing the camera out it is worth a try. This camera is only about a month old.
