Windows has many characters available through the use of alt-codes. This site has information on how to use them. I'm not sure what kind of a symbol you are wanting to make, though, so this might not be exactly what you're looking for. If you are needing a symbol when using a program like Word, you can switch to a different font (like Wingdings or Webdings) and insert characters from that set.

Hope this helps you. Thanks for using Fixya!

When you are on the letters virtual keyboard and want to enter a number or a symbol, tap on the box marked '123' or '123Sym'. That brings up the numbers+symbols virtual keyboard. Re Keyboard 57KBOBL: Explaoin symbols above the F keysOne is a compuer--another a half-moon (sleep button), but then there's a *=star and a check box and a house and music notes etc.

These Keys are multimedia and internet hotkeys. The House would take you to your home page in your default web browser, the half moon is a sleep button, the music notes will open up (by default) your My Music folder.

How do u use the @ symbol on the keyboard

The @ symbol and the number 2 key share the key.
To select the @ symbol - hold the SHIFT key and then press the number 2 key.
If you are not getting the @ symbol then most likely your keyboard was not or changes from the US keyboard.
If this is the case there would be other wrong symbols on your keyboard.

Sounds like your keyboard drive is not set right. Do you have a special keyboard with programmable functions? Try changing your keyboard driver. Google your keyboard model + drivers and see if one comes up you can download. Then replace current driver and see if that resolves your issue. It's not a laptop is it? If so, that's another matter.

Ok in Windows go to Start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Character Map

Then go to the font called "Symbol"

You should see it about half way down.
