Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I have installed a antamedia dhcp server, but it does not give out ip addresses. please guide me on how to set this up. i have awindows machine connected to a linksys router 10.0.0.1 and the computer int...

Make sure DHCP is off on the Linksys router first, set the IP of the router inside the scope of your DHCP server's scope (set it as the gateway so if your using 192.168.1.X, set it to 192.168.1.1). After that, remove static IP settings on your desktop (except the one using DCHP, set that to 192.168.1.10)

How to track back host activities which used DHCP to get dynomic IP address

Hi,
The easiest is to use a program that can identify the MAC address of the pc. As the ip address changes but not the Mac address you can only use the Mac address to track. Your other alternitive is to reserve the DHCP addresses to only be supplied per Mac address as this would ensure that the pc will always get the same ip address as well as make sure thate no rogue pc's can access your network. Hope this helped.

I want to connect a ZTE MF626 USB 3G modem to a linux system. How can I do It?

New to linux and having a few problems despite a very good tutorial here for u.

I am only seeing the usb drive with 3connect software in it - this 3connect usb drive that I can see has the windows installers and autorun files in and also has a folder called LINUXFILES which does have and .rpm package in.

I received the ZTE MF627 today from 3 UK, the customer service people and technical support all told me it worked on Linux but I was a little sceptical.

Amazingly I plugged it in and it does have Linux drivers on the USB drive - and they work in Ubuntu!

There's no instructions however, and I am certainly no Ubuntu expert but I managed to get it working in about 30 seconds. As I said though, I am no expert so you may want to get confirmation from someone else before following what I did but it is up to you.

I copied the Linux files across to my Desktop, then opened a terminal and navigated to the folder on the desktop:

cd Desktop

cd LinuxUI

One inside the folder I noticed a file named install.sh so I did something that I remembered from another Linux installation years ago, I am not sure if this is how you are meant to do it on Ubuntu.

sudo sh install.sh

That installed the drivers and the little 3 UK program under Applications>Internet>3UK.

I plugged it in ran the program and it works perfectly. I don't think you can use it as USB storage though.

have a gr8 day ahead.

Filename limit on Linux

Filename limitations are a function of the filesystem the operating system runs on. This subject gets far too involved for this forum very quickly so I will refer you to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_system for more information.

ISA 2004 - DHCP + MAC Address

This would need to be configured on whatever system it is that is serving DHCP. Assuming it is the same box as ISA Server, it would then have to be running Microsoft DHCP. In Microsoft's DHCP, you can assign reservations for specific MAC addresses. You need to open the DHCP management console, then expand out the server name. If the server name is not listed, you will need to connect to the server hosting the DHCP service by right clicking on the root node, etc.

Assuming you have a connection to the DHCP server and can see the zone you are referring to (172.16.2.0/23 which contains all addresses in the subnet to which you refer), under the zone, right click on Reservations and choose New Reservation. Enter a name, the specific IP address for that machine and the MAC address. That's all there is to it. Next time that machine requests an address from the DHCP server, it will issue the address you configured. It will not issue it to any other machine.
