Question about LG Computers & Internet
Janet_mcc, I suspect that one of two "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamps" that are hung on the rear of your LX40 "back-lit" LCD panel fails to light due to a failure in a circuit called an "inverter" circuit. Use warranty FIRST if valid option!!! If not, then you or a electronics technician will need to investigate root cause of failure and effect a repair. Most times when one inverter fails, it will be detected by the "switch-mode-power-supply" and "IT" will shut down the other working "inverter" and you will have a BLACK or BLACK and BLANK lcd screen. It could be possible that your display has had a "premature" failure of just one lamp. Read my Fixya profile on any BLACK screen complaints and my responses to discover more options open to you. This model could be 4-5 years old! Look into having it refurbished w/new CCFL tubes if repaired.
Hope this helps. 12fixlouie
