Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

Kodak Brownie Super 8 Projector

Hi.
I have a couple of these projectors which I can't seem to get working.
I have loaded a reel of film in and turned the switch to project but there is no movement. I have tried changing the fuse, so it isn't that.
Is there something I am missing?
Would appreciate any advice you can offer.
Thanks

I have a minolta autodual 8 film projector but the front reel is turning backwards in the wrong direction. How do I change the direction to turn in the same direction as the back reel.

I assume you haven't put a reel of film onto the projector and looped it through to the back spool. The front spool usually 'freewheels' whilst the film is pulled through the projector and taken up by the motor driven rear spool.
It is possible that the friction drive and/or drive belt have deteriorated with age, as the mentioned projector is a rather elderly 'classic' of the dual 8mm series.
If in doubt, don't risk your family pictures. Try the unit with an old piece of film on small spools.

Hi, my dad's Kodak Brownie 8 A15 regular 8mm film projector has an issue with the knob. It will turn to the rewind position but not Project. Does it have to be pushed in ? I hate to force it.

http://www.grantmillar.net/kodak-brownie8-manual-15-g-version1.pdf. Doesn't seem to need it. Check to make sure the knob hasn't turned ie off is project and rewind is off and there is another setting after rewind.

Will slides back from 1960 work in a Kodak Carousel Slide Projector?

As long as the slide film is in 2"x2" mounts, yes! I would advise you to use an 80-slide tray as opposed to a 140-slide tray. The individual slide compartments in an 80-slide tray are wider, making it more forgiving to older, possibly warped slides. 80-slide trays can still be purchased from: www.vinevalleyimaging.com. Be sure you have the specific 3-letter code from the burned out lamp, in addition to the model name/number of the projector. Armed with that, go to www.bulbman.com They have lamps for just about anything !! Good Luck!!

Neither of the "trademarks" you mention were used by Kodak, so the lens must be a non-Kodak lens. First of all, remove the lens and look along its side - it should have a rectangular "rack" (dimensions of the "rack" are roughly 1/2 inch by 3 1/4 inches) with gear teeth that will connect with the corresponding gear (inside the projector) on the focus knob shaft. If the lens does not have this "rack", then you should try to find a lens that does. (One source for lenses is www.VineValleyImaging.com). Verify that the lens is on the focus knob shaft and does not appear to be damaged. If the gear on the focus shaft is damaged (or slipping) you will need to contact a Authorized Repair Dealer to see if parts are still available for your specific model. Let me know if you need anything else! Good Luck !! Jim

Slide tray won t seat on projector

Try a couple of things:
1. Turn on the projector & cycle it in "Reverse" 3 or 4 times (without the tray). Do the levers that move the tray move correctly? If so, do you have another tray you can try? If another tray works correctly, follow Step #2.
2. The 140-Tray has to be in the "zero" position for the tray to seat on the projector. Check to make sure the Locking Ring (the ring is in the center of the tray & keeps the slides from coming out) is TIGHT on the top of the tray. Once checked, turn the tray upside-down. Refer to Page 8 in your owners' manual (if you don't have one, I've made an image of the page, below). You have to make sure the plate on the bottom of the tray is lined up at the notch at shown.jauburn_12.jpg

If this helps, please leave positive feedback for me @ FixYa.com. If you need more help, please re-post!!

Properly loading the slide tray

If the first slide is visable and consecutive slides are not, the "dark shutter" (a feature that prevents the eye-popping bright white screen when no slide is present) needs adjustment. A fairly easy adjustment for a factory-trained service dealer with the service manual and the correct tools.
