Question about Kodak EasyShare Z650 Digital Camera

My computer will no longer recognize the the

My computer gives me a message that it will no longer recognize the the camera when trying to transfer pictures, whether it's a tranfer from the actual camera, or from the camera on the printer dock. I've tried to download the updated easyshare program from Kodak, but my computer will not allow me to run the program unless I change my desktop to 'small' fonts. The trouble is that my Windows XP only has normal, large, and extra large settings for the fonts. Transfers from this camera worked perfectly only last week.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Getting Pictures Off My Camera and Onto My Computer

It sound like you have a problem with your memory card.
But I would try buying a card reader as well. Whether it turns out to be the card or not.
there are alot things that can go wrong when trying to use your camera to transfer the images instead of a card reader. a card reader shouldn't cost you more than 20 dollars.
It will also make transferring your images faster.
in the camera when you hit the review button do the images show up on the lcd screen of the camera?

Hope that works,
Caleb

Hey there pills 67, it appears the only thing that has changed is your memory card. The possibilities which follow are that the card is not formatted properly, and therefore not recognised as a valid drive, or it is not compatible with your camera. Many digital cameras cannot format larger size cards well and work better with 512 mb than 1.0 Gb. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

Sounds to me like you may have a corrupted card on your hands.

Tryt "F-Recovery" to get back your pictures and recover your card.

That doesn't work. I plug in an older camera and nothing happens at all. Autoplay doesn't start up. If you go to My Computer, the device does not show up. Therefore I can't get my pictures off my camera.
