Question about Yahoo Messenger
Try each of these in turn - if successful (or not) please feed back information to help others.
1) Since Internet Explorer is a vital tool in Yahoo (even if you use another browser as default I would recommend installing the latest version and update any support software for IE by using an update checker
2) Start with a clean browser
Download 'ccleaner' and run it through a couple of times, using the factory settings and the 'Run Cleaner' control until 0 bytes are seen to be cleaned following a scan
Run the 'Registry' from the left hand toolbar but 'Save' any changes after opting to 'repair' errors.
3) On the sign in page click 'Messenger' > Connection Preference
Toggle between 'Connect direct to the internet' and 'Proxy setting' make sure the information is correct in the lower 2 boxes
4) Check these settings in IE (even if you have another browser set as default)
a) Tools > Internet options > Connections > Lan settings > check 'Automatically detect settings - uncheck other options
b) Tools > work offline - make sure this is NOT checked and has a red X through it
5) Disable your firewall and do a trial sign in
6) Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections > Lan Settings-uncheck Proxy server and check automatically detect setting
7) Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections > dial-up and virtual private Network setting > select your default connection > setting > check automatically detect setting

Try the forgot password, even if you know the password, it will help you with all the details, and you might be able to reset the password.

a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Firstly; this error occurs when your connection preferences are not properly set. I'm not talking about your Yahoo! ID and Password here, but you may need to adjust certain features depending on what network you're on. Let's says for example, if a firewall protects your network, it may block yahoo messenger when it tries to connect to the server. You need to change your connection settings, click the Messenger menu in yahoo messenger and select Connection Preferences. Select Firewall With No Proxies. Select your Internet Connection type from the pull-down menu at the bottom and enter your Home Country if the adoptions aren’t grayed out. Click OK and login again using the new settings. If this option doesn’t work, click Connection Preferences in Yahoo! Messenger again and select No Network Detection. Try to login again using the new settings. In some instances, you may need to provide yahoo messenger with the IP address of your firewall or proxy server (you can get this information from your network administrator or from your Internet service provider). Click Messenger and select Connection Preferences again. Select Use Proxies. Enable either the HTTP Proxy or the SOCKS Proxy as needed and provide the proper address. Click OK and login again using the new settings.Secondly, if you are using IM9 there are sign in problems. This is what yahoo has to say. Try an updated version of Yahoo! Messenger 9.0(188.8.131.528). This latest build includes a fix for the sign-in issues that have been affecting some users. If you were seeing an error code“81003005” when trying to sign in, this latest version may fix that problem. Even if you were experiencing a different kind of sign-in issue, I recommend installing this latest version.Hope it was helpful!

One of the best sites which provide instant messaging capabilities is http://meebo.com
The site is able to emulate Yahoo Messenger quite well. It's not a perfect solution, but is one of the best you can get without installing Yahoo Messenger.

Tips for a great answer:
Jul 08, 2011 | Yahoo Messenger
. When you have completed the installation process, you should see a confirmation message in your browser window. Click "Sign up now" under "Get a Yahoo ID. "
If you closed the browser window that displayed the "Congratulations! You have successfully installed Yahoo Messenger", then you can go to http://messenger.yahoo.com and click the "Sign Up" link next to "New User" at the top of the page.
2. Complete the Yahoo Account form. A sample form is shown below.
While it's not required include an an alternate email address on the Sign Up form, it Yahoo login name/password, Yahoo will send you an email with the login name/password to the Yahoo email address that was created when you set up your messenger account. However, since the login and password for your Yahoo email account is the same as the login for your Yahoo Messenger account, you will not be able to retrieve the email. In this case you will be forced to create a new Yahoo account.
3. Write down the User ID and any other pertinent information from the confirmation screen. Keep this in a safe place as you will need the login name and password each time you use Yahoo messenger/Yahoo email.
