One would assume that if you get a 40 qt. bowl. you will most likely increase your batch size, correct, i would make do with what you have, that mixer was designed for a 30 qt. bowl, not a 40, hence the d 340 model, but the choice is yours. i would stay with what you have, monomoy

The 330 and 340 are virtually the same mixer. The 340 has a taller bowl. They make a bowl extender rind for a 30 quart bowl to extend it to a 40 however keep in mind if your doing a heavy or dry dough mix I would not recommend you do this as your machine is designed for certain uses. The extender rings really are not for allowing for a larger batch but more to keep lighter high speed mixes in the bowl instead all over you the machine and surrounding area.

What is the difference between a H800 and L800 mixer

I have used the H600. Nice piece of kitchen kit for hard use.

Model H600 is a heavy-duty 60-quart mixer which features a two-horsepower motor, a timer and a #12
Attachment Hub as standard equipment. With the use of bowl adapters and special agitators, 30- or 40-
quart bowls may be used on the H600.

Model L800 is a medium-duty 80-quart mixer designed primarily for use in general kitchen applications.
This mixer features a timer and #12 Attachment Hub as standard equipment and is powered by a
two-horsepower motor. With the use of bowl adapters and special agitators, 30-, 40- or 60- quart bowls
may be used on the L800.

A Bowl Guard is standard equipment on all H600 and L800 models.

A programmable timer controller is optional on H600 and L800 models.

These mixers can be ordered with a stainless steel finish.
A variety of attachments and accessories are available for all mixers. These are described in a separate Use and Applications Handbook, which is furnished with each mixer.

Here is your manual.

HOW DO I MANUALLY LOWER BOWL IF MIXER WILL NOT START?

Trina you might be better off to contact Hobart or an authorised Hobart service agent about this. The lack of answers probably indicates resident hobart experts are absent.

RESET A HOBART 140 QT MIXER

The V-1401 has a power bowl lift that is belt driven by the same motor that is used to mix. Remove top cover to check the belt. If belt is good and not slipping, is the operator handle working on /in the bowl lift gear box? If not, could be broken shear pin on handle or worn out parts in gear box. Next thing to check is the output shaft of the bowl lift gear box. If it is turning when the operator handle is engaged and the bowl lift jack shaft is not turning there is a broken shear pin between the output shaft and jack shaft. If everything is good to this point the bowl lift yoke has a large brass nut on back side of it that the jack shaft goes through. If the nut is worn the bowl lift yoke will slip, fall and/or jam. to unstick and lower the bowl , one can turn the jack shaft by hand. WARNNING : if the nut is worn enough the yoke can drop suddenly and it is very heavy.
