Question about Dell Inspiron 1545 Notebook
I am trying to connect my Dell 1545 to a TV for video ouput. I'm using a VGA > VGA connection and the picture is transferring perfectly. However, I can't get the audio to output to the TV. I'm using the Laptops 'Headphones' output socket and the TV's L&R Audio input sockets with a 3.5mm Jack 2 RCA Phono Audio Cable. The exact same setup used to work on my old laptop without any problems. When I listen to music on the laptop via headphones the sound outputs perfectly. Can anybody help?
That, & most, earphone sockets, simply doesn't have enough "Current" or signal voltage to drive your TV set's audio in Amplifier. You need to get a Pre-Amp, to amplify the signal, up to a level that can be used by the TV. So you need to purchase, or build from a kit, a small stereo pre-amp and insert it between your laptop & TV audio In.
