Mapshare not sharing

I have a TT Go910 with updated maps for uk and western europe, which make it valid to accept Mapshare updates, but although i have set it up it is still not downloading updates and there are over 22,000 updates available in mapshare, and i cant get my hands on them !
I have tried official tomtom support but to no avail. Maybe you guys out in the real world can help !!? I ticked all the boxes to allow updates etc, and Home software is 2.2.2.83

I have the same problem with my 920. Point is that I just bought it, so first time connected to Home, no previous backups available to restore. After updating the app and maps in the devide, map share says there are a lot of updates available but they are not downloaded to the 920

I fixed this by, restoring a previous saved backup on my TomTom Go 910, then i re-downloaded the updated map from TomTom.com, installed it and then all the Mapshare updates were available. Just a bit of advice, be sure to back up your TomTom, you never know when you'll need it !

Hi I have a Navman Model s30 and I accidently removed the UK & Ireland maps because i was trying to update them, however I do not have the cd with pre installed maps and I can not seem to find any site...

Well I don't know whether you have purchased maps before, but for your navman model, i would advise you make a purchase of the latest (2010) western Europe maps from here.
Please let me know if my answer is not satisfactory.

How often should you update or is it more practicle to just purchase a new garmin every couple years?

If you're happy with the satnav you have it's cheaper to update. You have the option of buying a once off map update or a lifetime update. That is for the lifetime of the satnav not your life. With a lifetime update, which costs around 120 euros, you get 4 updates each year. This is the cheapest option. However the only problem with this method is that the maps get bigger each time you update and the space on your satnav stays the same. I started off with a full map of Europe and now I'm only able to store Western Europe on my garmin nuvi 760. You can use memory cards to hold some of the map but older garmin satnavs have a problem recognising the maps on memory cards. If you need the full map you might be better buying a new satnav every few years. If you only use part of the map a lifetime update might be the best option.

If you decide to go for a new satnav I would suggest that you go for one with the biggest storage space possible and then get a lifetime update or get a model that comes with lifetime updates like the 3790LMT. You can judge the storage size by the amount of maps it comes with. The 3790 model has the complete USA + Canada and Mexico or the 2370LT comes with maps of Europe and USA, lifetime traffic updates but not lifetime maps.

HAVING PURCHASED A LIMITED LIFETIME UPDATE FOR MY GARMIN NUVI 250W, I FIND THAT I CANNOT INSTALL WESTERN EUROPE MAPS. THE INFORMATION GIVEN WHEN I SELECT WESTERN EUROPE, IS THAT THERE IS INSUFFICIENT SPACE...

firstly the reason it cant see corresponding countries is that the garmin units treat each map as seperate , the only way to rectify it is to copy the maps folder from your device to your pc then delete the maps from your device and then download the western europe whole map, doing it this way will give you the space you require plus it will allow you to choose any of the countries in the map

Map updates. The directions are often incorrect. Device voice and map show me I am at destination then changes to show it is actually a half mile or more down the road. Needs corrections!!!!!!!!! Thanks!

There ar frequent minor map corrections accessible through MapShare. You configure your GPS to accept these corrections. You can selected to accept ALL, or from TRUSTED sources, or ONLY corrections verified by TomTom.
Connect the unit to the computer and download the MapShare corrections. If your map is too old, maybe it is time to get the latest one.

If you have started using your unit not long ago (less than 30 days) you may have the right to a free update. TomTom offers the 30 day latest map guarantee.

Connect the unit to a computer where you installed the tomtom HOME application. Upon registration, HOME will proceed to update your GPS.

Does not have all the roads on the navman

only one solution really, up date your maps. Unfortunately you cannot just update maps for the UK, only Western Europe which include latest maps for UK (November, 2008) - go to 'navman.com/' the site \is 'Navman - beyond navigation' - click on 'UK' - when page comes up click on 'visit our online store' - on the left click on '2008 software and maps' - click on the SD card for Fseries - £39.95 inclusive

Update Tomtom map

To take advantage of mapshare, your maps must be version 6.75 or higher, and software version 7.xxx
You can also buy new maps.

In both cases, you will have to use the software TomTom Home.
