Hi,

If you want to upgrade with an additional HD check whether there are extra bays for support.

You can use any ATA hard-drive with this system. The following diagrams should be useful as a reference:

An IDE connector.

This is what an IDE drive looks like.

In addition to the above you need to know if you will be using a separate IDE connector on the motherboard or if you have only one connector you will need a dual IDE cable.

If you have a spare connector like above, use a separate wire to hook up another drive.

OR if both connectors are already populatSony Vaio PCV-MXS10 500GB Hard - 9ab335e.jpgual IDE cable:

Purchase drive from any company you wish but choose the one with warranty. If in doubt you can remove the older drive and take it with you to show which drive you intend to purchase.

I have a WD1600 hard drive in my Sony Vaio PCV-2242

Usually you can upgrade to a better model or manufacturer. In the old days you had to be careful as certain OS would only recognize 2gb or less. Today you can pretty much install what you like.

Hi, own a Sony Vaio VGN P530H with hardisk Toshiba MK6028GAL damaged. as forced to replace unit, wonder could install a higher capacity? Brand & model if available please!!! thanks to all of you!!!

The VAIO VGN-T350 is a notebook computer designed and distributed by Sony.
The hard drive on your Sony VAIO VGN-T350, which is the unit that stores data, consists of many clusters of data that can be rewritten with new data.
If you are looking for a memory capacity upgrade, or if your old hard drive is having errors, it's time for an upgrade.
Upgrading the hard drive on your Sony VAIO will require the use of a screwdriver and will take you about 30 minutes to complete.

Turn off your Sony VAIO VGN-T350 and remove the power cord and any other peripheral components.
Turn over your Sony VAIO VGN-T350 and locate the hard drive chamber on the bottom of your laptop. It will be clearly labeled.

Use the screwdriver to remove the screw holding the lid in place.
Gently lift the hard drive and its cage away from your laptop and disconnect the data cord.
Remove the four screws located at the corners, and then remove your old hard drive from its cage.
Place your new internal laptop hard drive into the cage and replace the screws.
Connect the data cord to your new hard drive and place your new hard drive into its chamber.
Close the lid and replace the screw to complete the operation.

This might not be your specific laptop it might give you an insight into the hard drive installation.

Ebay this hard drive should fit there are smaller capacity drives that will be compatible.

How to upgrade RAM memory what to buy and is anything else be upgraded before this

It is a very simple thing to upgrade your Ram which is a great idea since you have only 512 MB. I suggest you buy at least 1 GB or more if you can afford it. Go to the link I am posting and let them scan your computer. They will tell you exactly what you can install and the price. This is a reputable site I use all the time. This will require a download of the scanner tool which is perfectly safe. http://www.crucial.com/

Hard drive upgrade

Hi,
Ther could be two reasons, for the same.
1. The hardrive is not working correctly as the mesasge tells you
2. The 320 gb harddrive may not be supported by the sony motherboard.
Would suggest you to call sony support to verify if the system supports 320 gb hdd , cause i was not able to find the same information on there website.

Thanks
