Question about Smeg SE399X/5 Stainless Steel Electric Single Oven
I have moved house and the oven is a 90cm SA999X smeg. a few months back the oven started popping the trip switch and an electrician checked it out and discovered that some wires had melted and it was leaking power and tripping out. He fixed that but now it started smoking a terrible smell and loads of smoke. i shut it off cleaned it, ran it again and it seemed fine but now when you turn the heat off, the timer off and the element off the light stays on and fan stays on. I have to shut it off at the mains. It still seems to heat up ok but does smell strange. Does this mean its on its last legs or do i take the electricians suggestion and replace the element and thermostate (rather expensive) and possible have the oven still die on me.
