Screen shift when connecting Mac to LCD

I have connected my MacBook Pro to my LG LCD tv and the image is shifted. What I see on my tv is one full screen over than what I see on my laptop. I can move windows over to the right so I can view them, but is quite a nuisance for programs. I used a DVI to HDMI adapter to connect the two. How can I fix this?

When connected to an external display you have 2 options.
Extended you can stretch across both screens like a giant desktop or you can have mirrored displays which have exactly the same thing on each.
With your monitor plugged in...

  1. Open Apple ▸ System Preferences..
  2. Select Displays
  3. Go under Arrangement section
  4. Check the Mirror Displays check box

Vertical black bar on my LG 47" LCD shifting the image to the right

Two possibilities are there. The first one is, with loose LVDS cable, that connects the T'Con board to display panel. The second is the fault with its main digital processor board.

What type of input are you using? Your macbook should auto detect it. If you go into system preferences, displays, you may just have it at the wrong resolution.

My macbook pro will not turn on is there something that I can try?

Is it hooked up to a power source? Are you trying just with the battery? Try holding the shift ket down while pressing the power button, but make sure you are connected to a working power source. Try eliminating any extension cords, power strips, etc..

TV won't recognize signal from a DVI to HDMI input adapter

I had a similar problem with a Mac Mini.  The problem was caused by a mix-matched resolution (the Mac tries to use 75Hz refresh rate, TV expects 60Hz).  The best solution I found was to remote into the Mac (I used LogMeIn.com) and change the resolution on the Mac from a remote computer until the image appears on screen.
Process: 1) Connect Mac to a normal monitor and install the LogMeIn server (or other VNC type application) 2) Connect the Mac to the TV 3) Connect to LogMeIn from another computer (preferrably one where you can see the TV) 4) Go to Applications / System Preferences / Display 5) Change the resolution to your TVs native resolution, and change the refresh rate to 60Hz

I am sorry but some companies do not have Mac drivers for the older devices. You can try downloading the SWITCH ( not sure of the correct name) program that lets you run a make shift ( simulation) windows on your Mac and that may be the way to print to this device.

Open up System Preferences in the Apple menu, then go to "Display".

Make sure the monitor is connected, and click the "arrangement" tab. Check "mirror displays" OR drag the menu bar (white bar at the top of one of the monitor representations) from your laptop screen image to the desktop screen image.
