Problems with Canon MF8180c

I have a Canon MF8180c

It will not print over the network or via USB.

It will not send faxes or copy and if it scans it says memory is full even though memory used is only at around 20%

Any help greatly appriciated.

    Thanks for the suggestion,

Turned out it was just the software not managagin it's work load very well and got backup and couldnt' sort it self out.

Managed to sort it in the end by turning it off and holding down the Stop/Reset button for 5 seconds while it powers up.

This is actually a Canon fix, seems a bit clumsy but works.

Printing over a network. make sure you have the correct port forwarding open and that you haven't locked access to router to the printer.

How do I restore factory settings or reset Canon MF8180c. No errors are displayed. Printer won't print on network or USB.

This unit should print on USB regardless of how the machine settings are. You will need to install the driver on your computer, available as a download on the Canon web site.
Setting up the unit for a network can be involved, and depends on how you have your computers networked.
`resetting' the factory settings will not solve either issue.

I finally got a solution to my problem, which is the same as this one. When trying to scan via USB, you have to make sure the unit is set to USB. On the top panel just above the LCD display, is 3 buttons, Copy, Fax, Scan. Hit the SCAN button, till the display says USB SCANNING. Then try to scan again. Good luck!

Can't print or scan through USB port on Canon imageRUNNER 5070.

The port should be active. You can look for problems by right-clicking My Computer and then Properties. Under the Hardware tab, press the Device Manager button. Any hardware issues will show either a question mark or exclamation mark, disabled items with a red x. After the printer is connected, turn it on, then go to Start -> Control Panel. Here, go to add hardware. See if this finds it.

If not, have you added the printer after connecting it via USB under Start -> Printers and Faxes? What about inserting the installation CD before connecting the printer?

Scanning to email; Canon LC730i

You need to network the printer via its ethernet port and you need an email server in that network to route the fax.

I got it to work at home using hmail (a free windows mail server).

Fax

I cant find the sending guide which I have in print, you will need that as the most important piece, but basically if you know basic email account setup, you should be able to go through data registration button on main panel and under system settings-> network settings I believe enter SMTP IP address of your internal email server. Another avenue for this would be to ask your ISP if they relay email for static IP subscribers. Qwest does and you might be able to point the fax directly to the relay but I haven't tested this (in lieu of the in home hmail server).

Scanner not working on Canon MF8180C

We had this when using the printer via network cables. The scanner only works with a USB cable and the setup orgram won't recognise until then.
