Please follow the steps on a computer connected to the router so as to check the network key:

1. Open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari).
2. Access the router, usually by typing 'http://192.168.1.1' or 'http://www.routerlogin.com' in the address bar.
3. Login to the router with the Username as "admin" and Password as "password" (please note that Username and Password are case sensitive).
4. Click on Wireless Settings (under Setup) from the left menu.
5. Check if WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) or WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key) is selected under 'Security Options'.
6. If WPA-PSK is selected, copy the code entered in the passphrase(or network key).
7. If WEP is selected, copy the code entered in the key that has been checked.

This is the code required for connecting the wireless PS3 to the router's wireless network.

In some cases, for security reasons the passphrase might show as asterisks. In this case type a new Password and click apply. You will then have to use the same Password for all the wireless devices connecting to the network.

Hope this allows you to resolve the issue.

What is a wap/key for the playstation 3

The WPA key (WEP or WPA-PAK are the options you get when setting up) is a method of securing wireless networks. The key in simple term means the password. This setting is not dependent on your PS3 but rather your WIRELESS ROUTER. If you do not use a wireless router then this setting does not apply to you.

You will need to log into your router settings. Using a PC, connect directly to the router and enter the routers IP address in a internet browser. (I type in http://192.168.1.1/ in the address bar of my browser on my pc to connect to my Linksys router.) LAN-IP address is normally set to a default, private number. Linksys routers (which is what i use at home) for example use 192.168.1.1 for their internal IP address. D-link and Netgear routers typically use 192.168.0.1 some US Robotics use 192.168.123.254 and so on. But you should be able to find what your router ip address is by going to their website or looking in your users manual.
i'm able to find my WAP key under the "router access" in the sub menu of "administration tab" its all ******** out like any other protected fields but i know what mine is and is able to change it there.
In the security settings there should be a WPA key setting. If this is blank then your wireless internet is unprotected. If this is set, then you will need to enter the corresponding key into your PS3 to obtain access to the network.
if you know who set up your wireless network for your home you can ask them for the WEP or WPA key. in simple term that is just a password that they use to set up your WEP or WPA

DO a power cycle on your router and try it after that.
Unplug the power supply on the back of your router wait 60 seconds and plug it back in. Wait 30 seconds then try to connect from your PS3

Need wpa key to set up internet with my ps3 but dont know wat that is?

WPA is a Wireless Internet Authentication technology. It is setup through your home wireless router. If you have home wireless internet, you should know your WPA or WEP key. However, you dont have Wireless, you might just want to run a network cable from your router to the Playstation.

Hello :D

8013013D "A connection error has occurred" - May be to do with the SSID of the Router or signal strength if the conneciton drops Putting the PS3 into DMZ may help - otherwise check WPA key PS3 can't handle WPA2 only WPA or none

First, make sure that DHCP is enabled.
Second, Don't use the pass phrase use the key.
  • For example, if you setup WEP to use a pass phrase like ROSEBUD, use the generated key code under it which would look something like AA34578E9...

I have a 120 gb silm line ps3 console but a dont no how to hook it up to the internet

If you have a router in place connect the ps3 to it via ethernet cable. If the router is wireless with a WEP or WPA encryption code access the routers login page and get this code. Once you have the cable connected or the code turn on the ps3.
1:>On the ps3 dashboard go to (settings) then scroll down to and select (internet connection) select enable.
2:>Then go back to (settings), then scroll down to the bottom and select (network settings).
3:>Select (internet connection settings). This will bring up your internet setup page.
4:>Now select (easy) method.
5:>Choose wether wired or wireless. If wired skip to 8.
6:>Wireless will prompt you to select a wireless router (make sure you select your router) cause you may find others besides yours.
7:>After your router is selected it will prompt you to select either WEP or WPA select the one that the router uses and then enter the code.
8:>This will bring up your settings list most everything will be labled automatic. Press enter (X).
9:>Then select (test connection)
10:>After it is done back out.
11:>Now use your computer to go to plsystation.com and make yourself a PSN account with a username and password. After this is done.
12:>On the ps3 dashboard goto playstation network and select sign in, then enter your new PSN account name and password.
If you need anymore info do not hesitate to ask.

Ps3 error code 80711008 and wpa

OK for your WPA you can check the security key by accessing the router http://192.168.1.1 .. password is by default "admin" and username is blank...go to the "wireless" tab and check the ssid...under "wireless security" check the security key...if you have "wep" check the numbers in "key 1"....
now make sure that you connect to your own ssid and type the correct key...
and you are right , you need wlan to connect to the internet wirelessly...however , first make sure that you have internet working through the router..if not you will have to configure the router and for that you a computer connected to the router...

As for your IP address simple use this site http://www.ip-adress.com/ should be everything you need

Ps3 wirelesss conectin poblem

This is fairly easy.
1. Open network settings
2. Selected wireless and scan
3. When you see your router name click on that.
4. If you have a WEP security code you will need to enter that.
5. You should be finished!!
If you have any more questions, please comment here and I will come back and respond.
I hope this helps! Good luck to you!!
