Question about Sharp AL-1642CS Copier

1 Answer

Please Help!!!!! HELP! This is the printer from work and we need it back! I just cleaned the fuser unit, in our AL-1642CS printer, which fixed a major problem we were having. But now I'm getting a paper jam error. Is there a sensor in the fuser unit? Is yes, where? I figure I knocked it out of alignment while cleaning. Are there other paper sensors in the machine? Where? Does anyone have a schematic for the printer? Or, at least, for the fuser unit? Please help!!!!

Not yet. That's why I was asking where the sensors are. IS there one in the fuser?

ART173 - Finally! Could you be more specific as to the location of this flag sensor? Do you happen to have a schematic or know where I can get one? And when you say "order it" do you mean just the sensor, or the whole fuser unit? Cause the unit's too expensive. Work would rather replace the printer.

Okay, fixed the sensor problem. Apparently, the sensor keeps the fuser from turning on. So, what I thought was fixed before, isn't (though better). It seems that the rollers are too tight against each other, and that is causing the gears to slip and grind against each other. What would cause the rollers to suddenly be so snug?

Have you tried blowing the printer out thoroughly with "canned air"? You probably dislodged paper particles when you repaired the fuser.

The fuser has a flag sensor with an arm that the paper hits as it passes through. That arm moves a flag at the other end that hits a photointerrupter. You may have broke this. If so, you will likely need to order it through a dealer.

H what?
There should be a sub code number after the H to narrow it down.
It appears that you will need to replace the fuser unit.
You have a temperature problem.

Sharp copier AL-1642CS

Here is what worked for me.
You need to alternate pressing the clear button then one of the auto buttons until the display lights turn off.

First press the clear button (red letter “C” on the unit) then the auto button. (below the word auto there are 3 buttons. Press the one on the far left that has no other markings on it. This will only take 2 or 3 times back and forth.

When the display is blank enter the number 14 (like you were making 14 copies of something) then press the Green (start?) button. Let the copier warm up about 30 seconds and try making a copy.

It worked for me. Still having trouble call Sharp USA 630-378-3590 or Canada 905-568-7140. They were quick and helpful
