Dear I am facing a prob in IBM thinkpad my system display error message ERROR 0175: BAD CRC1, STOP POST TASK. Moreover system is not working, Waiting for your reply Thanking You,

You can TRY to flash the BIOS. CRC indicates that it's having difficulty reading from something basically. If it's doing that during POST, it's having trouble reading something extremely important. Might have something grounded or a bad motherboard.

My ibm thnkpad was error 174,how can i solve it?

This is the IBM description of the error -
Normal 0

173

Bad CMOS/NVRAM checksum

174

Bad system configuration

175

Bad EEPROM CRC

Go to the BIOS configuration - the Date and Time may be wrong.
If this does not fix the problem try setting the BIOS bacj to the defaults.
If this does not fix the problem, the BIOS battery may be worn out and needs replacing.

My ibm thinkpad a20m has a problem of error 0175 CRC stop post task, it hangs at dis state, i tried to replace the cmos battery and nothing happens any other solution for this? pls help me pls?

This is a common problem for A20's. It's a bad EEPROM or a bad M/B. IBMs resolution is to replace the board. please see link.

Also found this link with some tests you can do to find out if it's the board or the EEPROM. Either way it's not a simple fix. Please click here. There is an offer for repairing the EEPROM in this link. Posting the link is purely for informational purposes. Please do not consider it an endorsement of any kind.

I get Error 173 and 163 when I start my thinkpad. What can I do?

The Thinkpad POST error code you are getting are :-
163 - CMOS error, clock is not updating
175 - Bad EEPROM CRC
This is caused by either a faulty EEPROM chip or a flat CMOS battery.
Replacing the CMOS battery and go into the CMOS/BIOS configuration and set the Date and Time etc.
If the problem is still there then it is a motherboard problem and depending upon the age of the laptop it may not be worth repairing.

CRC Problem

Chances are since the system CRC1'd it has a very old BIOS revision. From version 1.10 on, the CRC issue has been fixed. So, get the latest BIOS from IBM, T21 BIOS: ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/spsdkz34.exe and flash the BIOS. Reboot the system and verify the updated BIOS. Now power down the system, desolder the known good EEPROM and resolder the CRC1 EEPROM. Boot the machine and hit ESC when the splash screen comes up and watch the post screen. The new BIOS should have recalculated the EEPROM checksum and written the changes to it. You'll know if it worked because the CRC1 error will be gone.

I've only seen this error appear on IBM thinkpads. Your EEPROM with the following steps.
You can try this to test the EEPROM
1.unplug AC,battery, HDD and and your cd/dvd rom drive.
2.press power button,last more than 10 seconds
3.plug battery and AC power
4.power on
5.when see the IBM logo, press F1 button immediately.

If the same error pops up, try it a few more times. If the error keeps displaying then it is the motherboard
