I have had this problem before with the exact same model.. I had been on the phone with technicians and they guided me through a series of troubleshooters with which none of them worked.. Unfortunatly the only way I managed to get it running again was to restore my laptop to factory
Did you try going to to the manufactuers website and download the drivers online.Just type in the name and model of your computer like this into your seach Acer disc drive drivers or the model and maker of the drive.
Can you try if the CD/DVD optical drive can boot from a windows cd - if so your problem is probably windows software if not drive optics may need cleaning or it may be necessary to replace the drive. If replacement is necessary it is the fitting of the front bezel - to the same type of drive [usually the same manufacturer] that is critical.
