No Sound Through Speakers

Hey, I have recently installed a kenwood cd player in my suzuki vitara 4x4 around 2 weeks ago. Everything was working perfectly, i hooked up my kenwood 6x9"s and purchased 3 way 4" kenwood speakers for the front for a little more sound. It was all working to perfection until today i was trying 2 listen 2 the music but nothing was playing through the speakers..the head unit was working but no sound..can u suggest anything i try and do?? I have checked cords and fuses and all seems to be fine.. thanks heaps jake..ciao!

Hi Jake,

If you haven't done so already, I'd try double checking the speaker wiring, you may have some exposed or badly kinked wires behind the unit.

Cheers,

Radio plays but plug in the rc jacks for the amp and subs and get this grounded out sound plug in different deck works perfect the deck worked fine a week ago

check for loose connections at your speakers and sub. If you have a loose connection, they can ground the other out... look closely for loose strands that may short it out. most of the amps have overload protection and cut out when there's a short/ground out issue..

I had this happen on my sub and it acted like the whole system was cutting out.

Car CD player plays but has no sound

Does your car have a premium sound system? Assuming that your cd deck is fine, try connecting your remote turn on wire from the sony to the corresponding wire on the car(if you bought a wiring harness, just match colors). Also some chryslers used a ground to turn on the amps.. a black wire with a female connector as well as a heavy ground ribbon cable... connect those 2 AND the ground to your stereo to enable the amplifiers.

Yeah unless you have the correct digital protocol converter these units will not work together. Most companies that make these D.P.C.'s ie. soundgate, pie, axcess, only make them so a factory head unit can control an aftermarket changer, not the other way around.

Kenwood cd car player

THIS USUALLY MEANS THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH THE INTERNAL AMPLIFIER SO FIRSTLY REMOVE THE RADIO AND CHECK THAT NONE OF THE WIRES ARE TRAPPED AND THEREFORE SHORTING THE OUTPUT. IF NONE OF THE WIRES ARE DAMAGED THEN I'M AFRAID THAT YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE AMP IN THE RADIO

Sound only coming from one side

you should have 3 leads going into you multi changer, two rca's and one bus lead. power up the unit and remove the first rca cable if the music goes off unplug the second rca and plug the first rca where the second was plugged in, if the music comes back on then the multiloader is working fine and you need to check the radio controller and its connections

No sound

It's very likely that you have a factory amplifier in the vehicle that needs to be either turned on or (preferably) bypassed to get sound to the speakers. If your vehicle is a Mustang, it's almost certain that you have a factory amp. If the factory plug includes a long, 8-pin gray plug and a small, square 8-pin plug connected to a round cable, then the amp turn-on wire is at the opposite end of the gray plug from the constant power wire. This needs to be connected to the blue/white wire on the Sony head unit for the factory amp to turn on. Otherwise, if you dig into the radio cavity a little bit, you'll find a black 8-pin connector that looks very similar to the gray connector at the back of the radio. The black connector pins are connected directly to the speakers, bypassing the factory amp.
