Menu screen and volume bar

My tv is only a yr and half old, about 6 mos ago, the menu guide started popping up on its own and began flashing. Now, the volume bar stays on and the volume dosen't work. We didn't get a warranty and the manufacturers had just expired.

I unplugged the tv for about an hour and then turned it back on and it worked for about 2 hours. I was actually happy that I was able to watch a movie without any interruption. It went back to the menu popping up again and the volume bar as wel.:(

Why did you by an RCA, what on earth were you thinking, meanwhile, there several reason's why they do this, one of the most one is bad eprom, there so commond on RCA that they keep stock on the rime, and or alway's on special. What happen's is that the cpu, get stuck on certain functions and can't get out of it because the data line is stoped. To try to solve your problem, disconect your unit and wait about 5 min and re plug it to see what happen's, it may work, seen this, other thing I do is unplug the unit and open the back and short out the eprom and the CPU to try to reset it, it is stuck on a mode that can't get out of it, there is also the chipper checker that can reset your unit, this I don't have, I think it's just an noosence and why would I spend another 2k on job's that I can't even get my money back and no support from the manufacters how to use this.
Another thing I've notice on 197 and 203 chassis or bad cpu and eprom , they tell me to change all 4 ic's and had the same problem a year after, meanwhile pure customer, paid over $400. and couldn't give him a warranty because I don't have a warranty from the magnufacture, point of view. All tv's has the problem, notice mitubitshi seam to have less, and hitashi, but like all of them, they change there design to fast and causes more issues then they solving them. It all comes to the consumer, I know not to purchase Sony, LG, Samsung, RCA and cheaper brand, there no support when calling them at all. And for those who shop for the cheaper brand that wal mmmm sale's keep in mind can't get parts I've tried and just gave up. Cheap china , or not fixable most of time.

Regards

42'' lcd turns on no picture/menu

Your tv is being attacked by electrical surges which seem very violent and has already damaged some logic controls. Please invest in a AC filter which will protect your tv from such spikes....... but first you need to get your tv serviced from the electrical damaged it has already suffered.

RCA HDTV MENU AND VOLUME CONTROL POPS ON AND OFF SCREEN.

My TV was doing the same thing. Someone told me to disconnect the front menu buttons and this worked for me. The board goes haywire. You have to take off the front black panel on the bottom first then the grey front panel where the controls are. Once you do this you will see where there is a plug from tv to the panel where the control buttons are. Just disconnect. You will only be able to use your remote for TV. Its a cheap and easy fix. Just lots of screws to get the panels off and on. Good luck!

Menu keeps popping up

Never a good idea to clean with any spray cleaner. The cleaner does get down in the button bar and cause corrosion and shorting along ribbon cable. Use screen wipes for computer monitors only on TV's and any type of monitors. You can remove the back of the case. And remove the button board and clean with a cue tip and alcohol along ribbon cable.

you are that clear

but if you are talking about flashes on the t.v then it is due to sparking is taking place in your plug & socket.

if it is ok then there is a sparking in high voltage section in tv which is called fly back section.

good luck.
