Remove t-stat and remove red and white wires and connect them, if unit starts then it was the t-stat.
If not go to furnace and remove same two wires at furnace and jump out at circuit board or connect wires FROM furnace, if it starts the problem is in wires.
If you have power to furnace?? and nothing happens it is either a bad board or inducer motor (little one) is not starting. Remember that their is a fuse on corcuit boards that need to be checked.

There are way too many types/brands/models of equipment for anyone to answer that question. Pictures and information on your old thermostat, new thermostat and the heater or ac unit it is controlling are going to be a ton of help.

The Lux 500 Thermostat is an affordable programmable thermostat that gives you a very easy way to customize your heating and cooling temperatures to your schedule. The programming of this thermostat is easily the simplest that I have found in a programmable t-stat.

Can't change temp setting. no response from soft touch buttons for warmer/cooler temp. changed batteries but no difference.

if the stat is in auto changeover from heat to cool you might need to lower the heat temperature setting before you can lower the cooling setting, these need to be 2 to 3 degrees apart and the stat will not let you over lap them.
