Question about Drills

Charger died. i have a icon cordless drill IC18V2K who's charger just died. there were only 2 resistors, led and diode on the circuit panel.all but the larger resistor survived the ordeal of smoking up.i need to replace the larger resistor but the heat has distorted the colour code.any ideas of getting a schematic for this? input voltage is 24 volts dc and the output going to the battery is unknown to charge 18 volt nicad's.

It is usually a current limiting resistor anyway... so I would think that about 100 Ohms should be all good, you generally need about 250 - 300mA to charge ya batteries. It is simple Ohms law calculation.

Why does ryobi 18V cordless not charge

Please check the LED status of your charger. If both of the charger'sLED flashing, but it can charge a good battery. Than the battery is defective, you may replace a new Ryobi P206 Battery http://www.batteryshops.co.uk/tags_products/ryobi-p206-12-18v-2-speed-drill-driver-battery_6854.html

Has anyone else had problems with the BOSCH "BC004" Battery Charger???

The problem is resistor R3 on the circuit board.
Since there is 310 Volts (!) across this resistor, I would highly recommend taking it to a TV repair shop for repair unless you know exactly what you are doing and have the skills for repairing a PC board. Take this email with you when you go there.
Be sure !!! to discharge the two large capacitors with a 10K resistor before attempting this repair - for days they will retain 165 Volts each across them after the power plug is pulled.
The repair is easy - simply replace the resistor R3 with two 130K metal film 1/2Watt resistors in series. The existing resistor is marginally power rated and there is too much potential difference across it for safety. Make sure the two replacement resistors are enclosed in a heat-shrink tube before soldering onto the board.

Hi I have same problem with the charger. Solution is to replace the charge with new part number issued from B&D Australia
Number of 90515050-01 until stock runs out , then it is replaced by part number of 90578873 early to mid june 2013.
Hope this helps

Where can I obtain a circuit board for a bosch cordless drill charger, Charger is AL 2404, part number 2 607 255 185, also has D-70745 Leinfelden printed on charger

most tool manufacturers don't offer the circuit boards as a separate saleable part. I can't find anything at the Bosch website.

Charger not powering up, fuse is good?? what the f---?

Internal board fuse checked? This may/may not help?

Makita 1850 battery charger FIX. A friend asked me to check his charger unit which had failed after it had been connected to a portable petrol generator that incorrectly generated 317 Volts AC and not the usual 240 Volt AC. On the charger circuit board next to the transformer wire connection is a component marked F2; this is a 2.5Amp fuse covered with heat-shrink sleeving. This fuse had ruptured/blown. Also blown was Transistor Q1, a ''P'' Mosfet labelled IRF9Z24N and Schottky Diode D9 labelled SR560. Replacing these 3 items got the charger working again. NB Resistor R31 is only 0.1ohm - don't assume it's gone short circuit! NB. I'd presume that most other Makita chargers will have this heat-shrink sleeving ''camoflaged'' fuse on the input of the circuit board and it would definitely be worth checking if the charger has stopped working. Battery charger shuts off when you put in a battery to be charged, reset wont work, unit is getting warm-a Short ?

I have this problem with my black and decker when I tested the leads in the charger they have power, I tried 3 different batteries. I took the charger apart and plugged in the battery, this is when I noticed the 10v + power that I was getting when testing just the charger turned off when the battery was installed, so instead of reading 10v from the charger I was only reading 4v of the dying battery. I removed some covering only to find the resistor burnt black, and the led light with black in it. I am guessing that I could replace the resistor and light if I could tell what kind they were.

Charger no light and wont charge

Sorry to give you my opinion, but these chargers are very delicate, I have 4 and can barely keep 2 going. My recommendation? Open it up and look for obvious shorts/loose wires, if no luck then buy another one and return the busted one as if it were the new one. You will end up with two working chargers. PS this is probably fraud...ha!

usually transistors have three legs, diodes have two arms all very confusing isn't it? resistors have two arms as well but not three legs or only two legs and no arms its all about arms and legs isn't it do not attempt this repair if you live at home
