i have a 2000 honda accord and the wires from the back of the stereo were cut. i know what colors are for each of the speakers but i dont know what color the rest of the wires are. they are the wires that are in the car. iam hooking up a kenwood kdc-x815 and i already know what each color on the radio are for but need help with what color to connect them to in the car
u need a tester..if you dont have one you can take a bulb and connect pigtails to it. attach 1 end to a ground . or to any peice of metal in the dash. 1 at a time touch the wires .when the light lights up u found a positive.make sure your ingition is off.the wire that lights is your unswitch positive.then turn your ignition the next wire thast lights is your switched positive.then turn your lights on and probe again.if lights you found your illumination.the rest of the wire could be for a remote amp or your power antenna.to test polarity on your speaker wires (+,-)take a aa battery and connect your speaker wires.when woofer pushes foward the wire connected to positive on battery is your postive for speaker conn.rating please.
You will need a voltmeter. Normally red is power, black i ground, yellow is memory power. the best way to know for sure is to use a voltmeter to test what each wire is recieving in power and when. If the key is off then the wire that has 12volts dc is for memory and the main power wire should be at 0volts dc. When the key is on that wire should have power now. the ground will be black on that car. Good luck.
