Error 99 Code on 5 month old Canon 40D

error 99 can be several things. Try the following. Check that the contacts on the lens housing are clean if not clean them with a swab of denatured alcohol available at walmart. also if there is extremely cold weather your shutter could be creating the error. Try using a blow dryer and on the warm setting warm up the camera with the lens off. Blow around the mirror area. I know it sounds silly but it has worked in the past. Good luck.
