One of my Fender Passport 500 speakers has started to crackle sometimes, particularly when the song has a lot of base. What could be causing this? Would a regulator help?

You have probably blown the speaker... swap left and right to verify it is the speaker... These speakers are NOT too well suited for bass... They typically have low impedance speakers in series. You run a risk of popping the amp running with a blown speaker. You MAY have to replace all the speakers in the defective cabinet. ALL the speakers must be identical. The Passport 250 uses four 2 ohm speakers in series... not sure about the 500. It may have two 8 ohm in parallel. Do not use the speaker until it is fixed... the amps are hard to repair if a defective speaker cooks them.

Could a bad cable connection make a fuse blow in my fender passport 250, or cuase any problemmwith ouput from my speakers...?

A shorted speaker cable could cause this... however, what you do is to replace the fuse BUT wire a 150 Watt lamp in series with the power input... This acts as a resetable fuse for testing. If the lamp stays lit, you still have a failure.

Fender passport 150 pro- Bought to uses for "Bike Nights" Plaing cd palyer in small retail parking lots. Volume is too low, when ever I try to put input level beyond halfway,,, I get...

You are in danger of popping the amp. The Fender passport 150 would be capable of covering about only a 20 foot by 20 foot area. If your area is bigger than that, you need more power and certainly bigger speakers. I would NOT recommend the larger Passport systems as the speakers are too directive for what sounds like your use... also there are reliability issues.

We have a Fender P-250 PA system. We get the protect light on when we turn on the system rather than the green power light. We can not get it to operate. Please advise... Gary

Likely there is either a failure in one of the power amps or the power supply. The protect means excess current is being sensed.

You need to take in for repair... these are really hard to work on due to the packaging.

Amp goes into protect mode as soon as switch is turned on. Pasport 250

There is a problem with the internal amp itself. These are extremely difficult to access. Contact Fender for a local authorized service center.

Power indicator light is red and the system does

It is an indication of a bad speaker cable providing a short. If it stays lit with no speaker cables plugged in it is an indication that it needs to be serviced.

LOW VOLUME FROM RIGHT CHANNEL OF STEREO 1 SIDE OF SYSTEM

It seems like the speaker jack tip needs cleaning, or the contact has become bent away from the connector and needs to be re-aligned.  The Passport is a portable system, so after years of plugging and unplugging the speaker jacks may be worn.  Try using the "Stereo 2" connectors. You can also try cleaning the jack with electrical contact cleaner, and. a cotton swab.

No sound from speakers

Page 8 of the owners manual explains this and suggests that if their procedure fails to take it into an authorized Fender dealer for service. The manual is dowloadable at Fender.com/support.

Fender passport model # 250 Used Only Twice!

go back in and find where the electrolitic capacitors connect to the board. They look kind of like a battery. One or both of them have broken loose from the main board, preventing any significant current from going to the output transformer, and causing overload. This is a common problem, and it does not take much rough handling to cause it.
where the break is is at the solder connection. Under a magnifying glass, the break will look like a little circle. Float fresh solder on that or any other large solder joints which may be cracked or broken.
Use standard precautions when working around high voltage.
