How do I hook up a wireless laptop to a router and modem
Are you trying to install the router.
You can do it manually without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem
Then you need to connect the computer to the router ad the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

what do you mean it wont recognize the modem, it should just transfer the data from the modem threw the ethernet cable and convert it to wireless.

Yes you should be able to go directly from the modem to the back of a wireless router. You will be able to plug in 4 devices via ethernet and several via wireless depending on which router you have/get. If your looking into getting a router I would recommend LINKSYS. They are the easiest to set up and are the most stable.
