Looking at the schematic for your unit it has two indicator lights one for the right side and one for the left. The indicator light gets its power directly from the infinite switches. So one of your switches have a shorted contact, or your wiring for you indicator light is somehow grounded. I would first check the wiring to make sure that there is no visible break anywhere or that mice didnt get in a chew up anything (now saying that you have mice but ive seen it before).
The way the switches are wired it would could be either switch on whichever side the light is staying on. As far as i can tell there is only a left and right indicator light. It would require individual component testing to find the shorted contact, or you could just purchase a single switch it looks like they should all be the same part number and will cost about $30. Replace one swapping directly wire for wire with your old switch. If that doesn't take care of your problem then swap it out for the other one. You will probably need the first two digits of your serial number for your look up this will indicate the series number.
Hope this helps _MJ_

I purchased a house w/ a Jenn-air elect. drop-in range. The Model # is 87946 or 87847. I believe the range was originally purchased in 1975. I am in need of an instruction manual .

Neither of these are a typical Jenn-Air model number. http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/product_literature/search.jsp?siteCd=JA_EN_US suggests that the model number is on the back wall under the burner on the right side of a drop-in cooktop. For a range the model number is often on the frame inside the oven door, below the vent or on the back of the top of the range.

87946 or 87847 are the part numbers for the cartridges (the elements or the surrounding housing).

Look at the model number locations at the "Help me find my model number" link and try to locate a model number on your range. Then enter that model into the search box. The manual is probably available with the correct part number. Most Jenn-air electric cooktops start with JEC in their model number.

I hope this helps you locate the manual.

HOW TO UNLOCK JEN-AIR STOVE TOP MODEL# JED4536WR01

The All Off cooktop touch control turns off the downdraft exhaust

system and all surface cooking areas that are in use at the same

time.

The Lock cooktop control avoids unintended use of the surface

cooking areas. When the cooktop is locked out, the surface

cooking areas cannot be turned on by the cooktop touch

controls.

To Lock Cooktop: Touch and hold the ALL OFF/LOCK keypad

for 4 seconds. After 4 seconds, ALL OFF/LOCK will glow red,

indicating that the cooktop controls are in the lockout position.

To Unlock Cooktop: Touch and hold the ALL OFF/LOCK keypad
for 4 seconds.

I have Model #JER8750AAB Serial#16776012WK When uising the self cleaning feature, oven stopped and F1 displayed on stove ??

  1. Disconnect power to stove
  2. Gain access to the back of the clock (electronic range control or ERC).
  3. Unplug the touch pad ribbon connector from the ERC. This will be a flat wire approx. 1 1/2" to 2" wide.
  4. Make sure everything is clear and will not short out when power is turned back on.
  5. Turn power back on to stove.
  6. Watch for the F1 and listen for the beep.
  7. If you get the F1 and beep, replace the ERC.
  8. If after approx. 30 minutes you do NOT get the F1 and hear the beep, replace the touch pad.
