Question about Tomtom GO GPS Receiver

I have a tomtom g 910 and the screen is so dark you can not read it. Can you help me? I have replaced the battery and that did not help.

You can change this by trying Preferences and then click the arrow until you reach night colours and day colours, click on the day colours, or if you dont have a manual for this unit please feel free to email me on butcher960@btinternet.com and i can email you a pdf file which will explain everything you need to know about your unit, Colin.

Tomtom 910 starts up, goes to screen with line scrooling along the bottom then just stops


go to tomtom.com, go to support, search for reset, select your device do as told. includes fotos of resetbutton and good discription. first make sure battery is full. goodluck.

Battery won't hold charge on tomtom 910 - the green light comes on when i plug it in but as soon as i unplug it the warning battery light comes on


Your battery has finally died and needs to be replaced. To replace the battery in your 910 you must completly disassemble the 910. While battery replacement is fairly straight forward, it is not a job for the average user.

Have same thing. I did call Tomtom and they are guessing ,just like me ,that battery is dead and offered me US$ 75 off brand new go 730 and old one u can keep. Was told ,they dont sell battery replacement .

Sounds like someone will sue their **** soon as class action .

The same thing happened to mine, TomTom was great about it. They sent me a replacement actually it wasn't until I received the 5th replacement that I got one that works right.) Everyone I've talked to @ the company has always been eager to make it right. BTW, now my TomTom works great, had it for 2 years now & wouldn't think of buying a different brand. Faulty battery on my Tom Tom Go 910


Go to this site and get the pdf with pictures on how to do it. Just be careful with the hard drive cable. Delicate tabs.

Tomtom 910 dark screen


If the LCD backlight is gone theres no choice but to replace the whole screen ( OR it could be the LCD lamp driver circuit on the circuit board ) . It's not economical to purchase a new screen but it is possible to purchase a defunct 910 , typicaly off ebay and use the screen from it . ( ensure you are buying a tomtom with a good intact screen ) . Changing the screen is tricky and fiddly but someone with general electronics knowledge should'nt find it difficult. You also need the special "star" drivers for the screws ( sometimes known as ' torxs ' ). If you are inexperienced with this sort of work then its best not to attempt it. There are companies advertising that can do this type of work for you and especialy in UK......... Good luck.

GPS 910 HAS FROZEN SCREEN


First, do a reset:

If no result, do a hard reset:
  1. Hold reset button pressed for approx 15 sec
  2. Press power button while pressing reset button
  3. Release reset button while still pressing power button
  4. Device should start, hold power button pressed until you see white text on screen, last line should read "RTC..."
  5. Release power button

Back light of the LCD display is not working


Get a RMA by TomTom by callinging them directly (see on TomToms webpage) I've solved by shipping my unit to Neaderland with UPS at no cost, they replaced the motherboard (not the display, this  just remained the same!) I've received the repaired 910 after 5 days and I've spent no one cent! And I've got also the battery, AC power supply and software replacement! Other problems of the software are still present: the unit won't cange colors by night-light changes (only one time after a reset...), tryes to connect to phantom computers, after a power on it get off and then on if connected on the car support,... The 910 is a crazy device, not stable at all. I think I'll change it with the new model Go930T Ciao (sorry for my bat english)
