Question about KitchenAid KHMS155LSS 1000 Watts Microwave Oven

1 Answer

The push button latch does not work. I removed the top and one of the small gray pieces with the hole in it that holds the pin for the white slide bar is broken off. Am I screwed? What microwave replaced or is the same size as the KSMS135GSS. It fits into a cabinet.

Panasonic inverter microwave: 'press to open/close' does not work. It's getting stiff for some time, but now it's gone.

Unplug, use T-20 torx bit to remove six screws that hold cover in place. The issue is the white tabs, each with a screw, ( they are too flimsy, when closed, the latch, which is the black plastic object held in place by the two screws bends the white tabs out of alignment ) The Latch is what accepts the two hooks in the door.
The tabs must be bend outward (toward the camera) then some brace needs to be added, I used the yellow spade Crimp connector which perfectly held bamboo Kabob spears cut to length and 5 minute 2 part epoxy to hold the bamboo to the frame. If you use this method care must be taken when loosening the lower screw to accept the spade connector, it's simple but important in that the hole in the white tab is slotted and you must push on the latch to force the screw forward ( toward the front of the microwave) when tightened. If you don't the RED pin (picture 2) will not be pushed in when the door is closed. This pin is the safety switch which allows the microwave to start when you push the START button.
Add a little vaseline petroleum jelly to the leading edge of the two hooks, they get spalled(roughed up) by all the slamming of the door. You will be surprised by how well it will work now

Change Light Bulb Monogram zsc1001kss01

I have included a schematic of the interior of the built in Monogram Advantium Microwave oven Model KSC1001. The interior halogen light burned out and had to be replaced. GE service wanted $138 to come out & service it. I tried to find instructions on how to take it apart and remove the bulb & replace it on the WEB but had no luck with the Monogram series so I went to the dealer in Denver, CO and talked with their technicians and they gave me the schematic and sold me 2 bulbs for $11.00. The halogen bulbs can be purchased at Home Depot for about the same price. They are 35 watt with wide metal connectors.

Mine has 2 side trim pieces so these have to be removed first. They have latches on the top that slide behind the sides of the microwave and attach at the top. After removing the 4 screws holding the trim pieces, slide these upwards and then pull out to the sides. 2.) pull the microwave out and set it on a solid surface. 3.) there are approximately 23 screws that need to come out before you can slide & life the cover off the microwave 4.) Then look inside towards the front and left side (looking from the rear forward) for a small metal cover. There are 2 screws that hold it down. 5). Unscrew the 2 screws and gently lift the metal container up. This is the housing for the light bulb. 6.) gently pull the old bulb out and using gloves or a cloth insert the new bulb. You need to keep oils from your fingers from getting on the bulbs. The oils make the bulbs burn out quicker 7.) Put the container back and screw in the 2 screws being careful not to dislodge any wiring 8.) Slide the cover back on and replace all the screws 9.) plug it into an outlet and open the door to make sure the light works 10.) replace the microwave, plug it in and put the trim pieces back on. 11.) go to a movie with the money you just saved

How do I remove a GE spacemaker model jvm130k

I assume that it's mounted below a cabinet on the mounts supplied with the microwave. If that's the case, there are four buttons on the top of the microwave in each corner. They fit into holes in the mount then slide into depressions which hold the unit in place under the cabinet.

To release the microwave push up from the bottom then try sliding it backward first. If you are able to move it, carefully slide the whole unit until it drops through the holes and is clear of the mounts.

Be very careful because the unit is pretty heavy and you'll get its full weight when it drops through the holes.

If it doesn't move when you try to slide it rearward, try sliding it sideways in either direction. The direction you must slide it in is determined by how the mounts were installed but it should slide out fairly easily once you know which way to move it.

Panasonic microwave oven model nn-h965bfx door wont close. feels like spring or something is no longer latching the door close.

I have the same model microwave. When I opened the thing up I noticed that the latch and safety switches are connected to the chasses with two screws. The problem with this design is the metal that holds the microwave together bends every single time you open the door over time this causes metal fatigue. The part that has to be replaced to fix this is the chasses itself. I have found a way to rig it up and work for a while. I don't know how long it will last, but it is working now. I used a little hole tape and a 1x2 piece of wood about 6" in length. Put the piece of wood on the side of the latch closest to the cooking section of the microwave. Then put the hole tape from the top lip to one screw in the latch. This seems to be keeping it from moving for now.

Sharp r520kst door wont stay shut

If the door will not stay closed it is the spring inside door, or the small plastic piece that holds the spring which is attached to the $80.00 piece called outer door.
To fix it, it is EASY and you do not have to even take the inside cover all the way off. Just remove the three sides of cover by gently slipping a plastic putty knife around rim to release the clips. Then attach the spring to the small hole below where the plastic piece used to be, which is located in the metal on the glass frame piece, use tweezers, hold the other end of spring as you place spring onto plastic door latch and set into place!
Snap the inside cover back on and YAY! FINI!

The 2 hooks(latch) inside the door have lost spring tension.

For no apparent reason, the latch broke on the 9187 ST. Take the door off of the microwave, which isn't too hard. Rotate the door to 90 degrees, lift up, and slide it to the left. Place the door on the counter, latch side up. Use a thin knife or screwdriver to lift the panel that covers the latch. It is very easy to remove it from the door. Then slide the latch up and lift is out. The spring is under the latch. The clip on the latch that held the spring was fractured. So, I drilled a tiny hole in the body piece from where the clip extended. I reattached the spring to the latch, replaced the panel, replaced the door, and it is as good as new.

How do i remove the membrane touchpad?

Every microwave oven I've seen has the touchpad permanently glued to the controller housing/front trim piece. To get this off, remove the top/side cover piece, then look for screws that hold the controller housing to the front of the oven. On some models, there is one screw at the top. After you remove that you can slide the controller up to unhook it from the oven frame. If there is a push-in door release latch in the housing, there is probably a screw or two at the bottom as well.

Now here is where it gets interesting. There is a flexible printed cable from the touchpad to the controller circuit board. To detach it from the board, you must first unlock the connector. There is a flanged collar on the connector. If you pull the collar up as if you were going to slide it along the cable (it only comes out a millimeter or so and hits an internal stop; it's part of the connector and is not supposed to be removed), that unlocks the connector and the cable slides right out. If the cable doesn't slide out, make sure you have both ends of the collar up to the internal stop. Now you can remove the screws that hold the controller onto the keypad and the removal process is essentially complete.

To reinstall the ribbon, slide it all the way into the connector and push the locking collar back down. Make sure the cable is in square and straight or the keypad may not work properly.

Caution: handle the controller board only by the edges. The controller chip(s) is very vulnerable to static electricity damage and can be ruined by a spark to the circuit that is too weak for you to feel the discharge. Avoid touching the contact area of the touchpad ribbon while inserting or removing it. (If you need to clean the ribbon contacts that go into the connector, it is OK to work on those while the ribbon is disconnected.) In some ovens, the controller chip is mounted directly on the board and covered with a soft rubber compound. These are especially delicate; it's too easy to break the fine wires inside that connect the chip to the board (but they're cheap to make!).

My frigidaire microwave door is sagging and is about to fall off

EASY get a machine screw, nut with washer. I believe I used a 1/8" machine screw.....(find something small to fit in the hole on the bottom hinge.

First step, take 3 screws off bottom to expose hinge area. Have someone hold it or support it so wires to the light do not pull out,.

Pop the machine screw through the front and then with your fingers get the washer an nut and tighten down.
If you want the professsional look. Paint the machine screw white first with a enamel white paint.
