There are rubber isolation mounts under the compressor that get worn. What your hearing when the unit shuts off is the compressor shaking in the mount as the electricity to the run winding is shut off and the reverse torque twists the compressor in the mount to the point that it is hitting the mounting posts momentarily. Replacing the isolation mounts will stop the noise.

It's common problem. Freezer fan hitting over ice formation behind freezer. It is due to non defrost problem.

Keep thermostat temp must be 5 degree and check timer and thermostat are working properly. Unplug your fridge and after all defrost icing, start again. If still noise behind freezer, check fan leaves are broken. If so replace it.thanks.

Check to see if bottom freezer has not iced over, the back panel at rear of freezer has a small fan in it to circulate air and if the freezer coil in froozen /iced over the fan will hit the coil making loud noise.

Within the last month fridge started making a strange rumbling noise that lasts about 1-2 seconds. It occurs every hour or so. What is that and how can I fix it?

If the refrigerator is working ok,it may be the defrost drain pan vibrating when the compressor shuts off. You will need to see if it is out of position. Also, does this refer have an icemaker installed and if so is it working ok.

Frig is driving me crazy---weird noise and no ice!!

That might be the fan. Making that noise, because fan stops when you open the freezer. The ice maker might be a totally diffrent problem. The solenoid may not be opening to let the water in, which is usually cause by a bad solenoid.

LG fridge/freezer rumbling/vibrating sound

Check your defrost components. The fan is hitting the frost buildup and will shut off when the door is opened so as to not circulate the warm air. The heater or the timer is not doing a proper defrost cycle.

Fan keeps making loud rumbling noise

probably not tied in with each other, would change the fan and probably jump the water valve with 110 volts and see if you get water if not then change the water valve if so change the ice maker, whirlpoolpartssurplus.com
