Question about Audio Players & Recorders
No power is being supplied for the tuner and CD player while in the protect mode.
Maybe there's a correlation to those devices being attached. Float the the amp so it has no cables to anything and figure out why it's going into protect mode. If it doesn't, start adding units until it does.

Disconnect speakers and wires. Bad wiring or defective speakers may be loading the amp down and causing the protection circuits inside to disconnect (no sound). If the HK is heating up (beyond what you perceive as normal) with no wires or speakers connected then you have a problem requiring expert repair.
