Just hooked up LG W2286L to sideport of Mac but the screen on the lap top does not show up on the LG (just a purple-ish outer space background) and the cursor doesn't show up on the screen either?

  • jdrescher Feb 04, 2010

Have you received my second response?

  • jdrescher Feb 04, 2010

No I have never had them working together and I don't know how to adjust the resolution you speak of. I have been able to see the cursor now on both screens.

What is the model of the monitor? What kind of problem are you having? Have you had the two working together before without a problem? Once I have more information I can assist you further. Please give as much detail as possible.
Thank you,

So you haven't had them working together at all before? Have you tried adjusting the resolution output at all? Do you know the monitor itself works? Please use as much detail as possible.
    Thank you,

I have an LG W3000H which should be able to get excellent resolution (2560 x 1600). But, I'm only getting 1280 x 800. And, I can't increase the resolution any further. I'm using a Dell latitude 6410...

The limit is due to your video card in your computer, did you try to install the monitor driver on your lap top for this monitor since it needs the inf file for the computer to know what kind of resolution this monitor can support. You also may not have enough memory for the video card since it is shared memory with the CPU.

I have a LG lap top, vertical lines on LCD screen

Try replacing the inverter, if you plugged in a monitor and are still getting the screen then the onboard video has gone to ****.

Go there and search for the manual, input your region as North America then choose USA, opt out of the survey and download the manual in pdf form.

White thin line verticaly middle of lap top screen

Sounds like the monitor. Do you have another monitor to hook up to the laptop? If so, that will tell you precisely if it's the monitor or video card.

try to adjust to a compatible rate. the monitor manual will give you its compatible rates. the video card should have that rate available. if not, you may damage the monitor with the wrong rate.
stop and try another monitor that has a refresh rate available on your video card.
good luck

Try connecting the LG monitor to the VGA port on the HP tablet instead on the docking station.

Monitor not working.

The USB connector isn't for video. You plug a USB cable to a free USB port on your PC then plug that into you?re the type B USB connector (squarish with two rounded edges) on your monitor. Somewhere on your monitor you will fine two standard type ?A? USB sockets (rectangular), basically your monitor has a USB hub built into it for convenience. You will have to either get a new video card with a DVI output or an adaptor to convert DMI to VGA. Most of the ones I've seen are $50 or more.
