My wireless router wont work

You need to (temporarily) hook a computer up to your router using an ethernet cable to set it up properly so you can send out a wireless internet signal with it. To connect to your router with a computer simply open your web browser and type in the router's address in URL web address bar. Consult your router's documentation to determine the exact address for your model. Note that you do not need a working Internet connection for this step.

Internet connection not responding.....

Configuration of router is a big issue for internet computer networks.Problem:"http://192.168.2.1/ " is your ip address of your router. then the browser cannot allocate the specified address it's because this is not the exact ip address of your hardware. but there is an alternative way to get into the router and if you don't know the ip address (you can type in your URL bar http://routerlogin.com).1. NOTE! you should have to inputs the username and the password of your router, so that you can enter in your router configuration to change some of the settings.2. NOTE! miss configuration of router can be a big destruction of your internet connection. cause any type of browser you've installed in your system unit will be capable of any type of internet connection you've avail. 3. Tips: The problem is how you'll configure your routers.4. Default address: http://routerlogin.comGod Speed.

Cant locate it on th internet to secure it with wep

You cannot secure the wireless router over the Internet. Basically the wireless router is secured by opening a browser and entering the wireless router's URL configuration address.
To secure and set up encryption on your wireless router please follow my instructions - click on this link :-
http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security
The configuration URL for the Linksys is http://192.168.1.1 and the default login = admin and the default PW = admin

You do not need the CD:
Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPPOe.

Using your web browser go to URL address http://192.168.1.1. You will then be prompted to login to your router. A log-in screen asking for the password will automatically appear. At this time enter the default password “admin”, in lower case letters into the password field. The username field may be left blank at this time. (Note: both the default username and default password are set to “admin” on some of the newer Linksys router models).

First, Check if you have an IP Address from your router (it must set to DHCP enable)
Second, try to ping ip address of your pc, router and at least one url address, i.e. www.yahoo.com
If above not working, do reset (a small button) at the back of the router, push it for 20 seconds.
Try to check again, if not working replace it with another router, set up it again then check

Hooking the router up will not let me get on the internet

HI! I bliv u are having some issue setting up ur router.. I will be more than glad to assist u. If your computer is connected directly to the modem from your isp, you got an internet connection but if you hook up the router to the modem you dont have..
here are the steps u need to do:
1. press the reset button on the back of the router for 20sec..while pressing the reset button, unplug the power plug and after 2secs while pressing the reset button plug it back in and press for 30secs after that unplug the router for 15secs then plug it back in..once all the lights are solid and ok
2. connect the ethernet cable to port1 of the router and the other end to the lan port of your computer..
3. pull up ur browser then type at the url:192.168.1.1.or 192.168.0.1 or u can check the routers default gateway by right clicking the network icon on the lower right of your task bar and click on status and it will show the ip address of the computer, subnetmask and default gateway, the default gateway is the routers ip address, once u type in to the url, it will ask u the username and password, by default the username is admin and the password is 1234 or just leave it blank
4. it will show the setup page of the router. u can set the router on the specific internet setup that u have.
a. if ur isp is a cable company, normaly u need to do a mac clone on the router setup page by cloning the computer that is reg to the cable company, how to determine it. ex. the computer that is reg to the cable company is a desktop or laptop, if this computer is connected to the modem directly and u can access internet.
b. once u determined it u need to connect this computer directly to the router and do a mac clone and set ur internet settings to auto-dhcp..then save the settings and after that, unplug to the power of the modem and router, plug in 1st the power of the modem then once all lights lit, plug in the router, then once all lights lit, try to pull up a browser that ur computer is connected directly to the router.. ur cable connection shud be, cable from the modem will go to the WAN port of the router and connect ethernet cable on port1 going to the lan port of the computer..once u can access the internet, u can now access again the setup page of the router by typing at the url:192.168.1.1 and u can setup the wireless settings, u need to create a ssid or wireless name and a security..
5. If ur isp is a dsl normaly they give u a username and password to connect to the internet, ur settings on the router should be PPPoe
6. If ur isp gives u a static ip address settings, u need to set the router to isp setup.
a. how to check the isp of the isp given to u..
1. click on start
2. run
3. type cmd
4. it will show a dos prompt
5. from the dos prompt type ipconfig/all
6. it will list the ip address, subnet, default gateway, dns server
this settings should be type in to the settings on the router for static ip addressing..

if you have any query pls feel free to get in touch.. good luck

Getting a router signal, but no internet

Have you check if you have a valid IP address? You could run IPconfig in the DOS window to verify this. If you have a valid IP address, try pinging the default gateway (You should be able to ping it.) Then, try to ping a website. If you could ping a website or URL but still can't browse check your firewall settings and optimize your browser.

Please post here what happen.

Thanks and regards,
