Question about Biostar MCP6P-M2 Motherboard - v6.0, NVIDIA GeForce 6150, Socket AM2, MicroATX, Audio, Video, 10/100

1 Answer

Motherboard failure Have a Biostar mcp6p m2+ mainboard with sempron processor and 1gb ddr2 ram in a system approximately 5 months now. Recently the system didn't power on, changed the power supply, it wasn't that. Disconnected all peripherals, drives, cards etc, still no response. Tested the voltage across the motherboard on/off pins and it read zero however across the green and black pins on the power supply read approx. 5V. No fans, no LEDs but the psu works. Any advice?

The MB failed - you may have warranty on it; check with the place where it was bought.

Greetings. I wanna upgrade my processor from amd sempron 3200+ 1.8 ghz to athlon 2 x2 260 processor. But when I put the athlon 2 x2 260 proc, it didnt work.

Did you check to see if it would handle that type of upgrade? Maybe that's your problem, it's not compatible. Research and see if it can handle it, then we can find a solution if it can.

I have one biostar motherboard.. MCP6P-M2. . the system is no display no beep on P.O.S.T... Im not sure if the processor or motherboard is faulty,, can you help me?? thanks

First replace the RAMs and check.
If the RAMs are totally useless, you will hear beeps. But there are times when the computer won't start or beep due to RAM errors.
Believe me, I'm talking with several years of experience.

No onboard video with my new MCP6P M2+ mainboard

Try removing the bios battery for 30 seconds then boot the pc, this will clear the bios. Maybe the bios was misconfigured. Else you can jump the "clear cmos" pins on your motherboard, same affect as removing the battery. If that doesn't work try different ram, it's possible the ram is not compatible. Sounds plausible being that there were no post beeps. Good luck.
