I can find nothing in the owner's instructions about that.

How do I go about re-registering the handset?

  • vincit_verit Feb 06, 2010

It was suggested that my handset was de-registered from the base. I WILL take it for repairs if RE-registering the handset doesn't work.

How do I register the set with the base?

I do have a wireless keyboard and mouse. Removed the batteries from them and disconnected two wireless phones in living room, and EUREKA! the handset is now working. If It should happen again then I will do a process of elimination until I find the electronic device(s) creating the problem.

I however don't know how I could prevent this from happening again. Or is this a rare occurrence?

I do thank you for your assistance.

I would recommend you perform a factory restore first. to do this, follow these steps;
Factory Default
This feature allows you to restore the handset’s original features.
1. Press the FLASH/CALL WAIT/PROGRAM button until DEFAULT shows in the display.
2. Use the CID/VOL (< or > )button to scroll to YES. The default setting is NO.
3. Press FLASH/CALL WAIT/PROGRAM to confirm. You will hear a confirmation tone.

Just of the wall, do you have a wireless mouse and keyboard in the house? Some manufactures of these devices use the same or very close frequency, this may have caused the unregister or your phone to the base. Unhook any other wireless devices in the house, remove the batteries from the phone and the handset, unhook the phone wire from the wall, disconect the power to the phone base and restart all as new, see if that will re-register your handset to the base.

There are some internal damages on the phone board. Could be some chip lines have gone bad.

Please consult a service center in your location for repairs and I bet it won't cost much.

Take good care it's a nice product you've got.

Thanks for using Fixya and remember to rate this suggestion.

cheers.

I've pulled up the user manual for your phone. Thank you for providing the phone make and model first, and the complete description of your issue!

The manual says the battery should be charged for 15 hours before first use.

You may be set to pulse dialing , even though the factory default is for tone dialing. If you push the 7 key, you would hear 7 pulses or clicks in succession. The dial tone will be gone once a pulse has been received. And you say there are clicks heard and no dial tone.

You can set Handset settings (Page 12 in the PDF copy) and customize how your phone works.

Hit MENU and use the up-arrow and down-arrow keys to scroll to the desired feature., this time called DIAL TYPE, then his SELECT. Looks like the sixth menu entry from the top after LANGUAGE.

It should read:
DIAL TYPE
TONE

If it says something else, perhaps PULSE, use those arrow keys again to change the Dial Type to Tone. Then use OFF to back out of the selection and again to clear the menu.

Attached is the link to the manual. Click the button on the screen to "Open as PDF" and you can open it in your PDF reader software or save it to your device for offline reading.

I need to turn of fwd/dnd

Take the handset off the hook, then press the FWD/DND button followed by 0 (zero). When you hear the tone, hang the handset back up. This will work with the PT (Panasonic Proprietary telephone) system. (Alternatively, pick up the handset, press 7 (seven) 1 (one) 0 (zero) 0 (zero) and hang up after the tone. This works for PT and SLT phones (single line telephone))

The same sequence works to cancel call forwarding (except for follow me forwarding). In the Follow me mode, pick up the handset, press FWD/DND or 7 1 0 followed by 8 and the extension number. Then hang up after hearing the tone.

I hope this helps.

Cannot program, menu stuck on Spanish, cannot access main menu from mute/ok button

I know this should be a MUCH more techie answer, but have you tried just asking a nearby Mexican to help you? Just a thought.....

You say you cannot get to the menu from the mute/ok button?

What happens instead?
FROM DA BOOOK looks pretty clear to me.

Handset Setup
1. Make sure your phone is OFF (not in TALK mode).
2. Press the mute/menu OK button to go to the main menu.
3. Press CALLER ID-VOLUME ( 6 or 5) button to scroll to HANDSET SETUP.
4. Press mute/menu OK button to confirm and you may program the following items: Language, Handset Name, Ringer Tone, Ringer Volume, VIP Melody, Key Tone, Set Day/Time, Equalizer, Area Code, Tone/Pulse, Registration, Deregistration and Default Setting.
NOTE: During programming, you may press the END/cancel button at any time to exit the sub-menu and return to the menu.
Language
From the Handset Setup Menu:
1. Press the CALLER ID-VOLUME ( 6 or 5) button to scroll to the SET LANGUAGE sub-menu.
2. Press mute/menu OK button to enter the menu. SET LANGUAGE 1ENG 2FRA 3ESP shows in the display.
3. Use the touch tone pad on the handset to select 1ENG, 2FRA, 3ESP, or use the CALLER ID-VOLUME ( 6 or 5) button to scroll to the desired language. English is the default setting.
4. Press the mute/menu OK button to save your selection. You will hear a confirmation tone and the selected language shows in the display.

Uniden 1725 no dial tone

I had the same problem as long as they are plugged in correctly and you put the #2 handset into the #1 cradle to register it to your base then try hanging the phone up several times. These are expandable phones so that I believe you can keep adding other handsets. So sometimes they think you have a few more handsets than you really have so when you hang up it may not know what handset you are hanging up #1 #2 or #3 #4 etc. So I had to keep hanging them up until it finally hung up. Then I had to re install them so it knew I only had 2 hand sets. So then you start from the beginning, like when you took it from the packaging. I hate these phones. I ended up replacing them with different ones. Plus I always keep a rotery phone laying around put away because during a power outage you still can plug in an old dial phone and it will work! Nothing like old technology.

I have two older (2002) model cordless Uniden phones that require the handsets to return to their original factory bases. If they have rested on another Uniden base, even of the same model, there is no dialup tone. Replace to the original base and you should be back in service.

Vtech,5.8 3-phone w/digital recorder, model DS4122-3 None of the phones work they either say connecting or put back in the charger . these are only 2 months old?

To deregister ALL handsets:
Step 1: Press and hold FIND HANDSET on the main telephone base for 10 seconds.

Step 2: When the IN USE light starts to flash, release the FIND HANDSET button.

Step 3: Press and release FIND HANDSET again. The IN USE light will turn off and in a few seconds, all handsets will be de-registered.

Step 4: All handsets will show NOT REGISTERED.

To register a handset (register 1 handset at a time):
Step 1: Place the handset in the base unit or a charger that is connected to a power outlet. If PRESS FIND HNDST 4 SEC ON BASE does not appear on the screen after a few seconds, lift up handset and place in base or charger again.

Step 2: On the telephone base, press and hold FIND HANDSET for four seconds. Release FIND HANDSET once the IN USE light comes on.

After a while the handset will emit a series of tones, the newly registered handset will be assigned the lowest extension number not previously assigned to another system handset (1-4) when successfully registered. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 if the handset does not successfully register to the telephone base within two minutes.

REPEAT THE REGISTRATION PROCEDURE FOR EACH SYSTEM HANDSET.

Make sure the handsets are not receiving interference from other appliances, cell phones, etc.

IF deregistering does not work .. you will need to reset the entire system
Step 1: Disconnect the power to the telephone base.

Step 2: Disconnect the handset battery.

Step 3: Wait a few minutes and then reconnect the power to the telephone base.

Step 4: Reconnect the handset battery

Step 5: Wait about one minute for the handset to re-establish a link with the telephone base and then test the phone again.
You will need to set the time and date again after resetting the entire system.

VTech 5.8 mhz won't work

I found a solution that fixed this problem (at least for me). On the vtech site they said to unplug the base unit for at least 5 minutes. Previously, I had only unplugged the base unit for a few seconds. This time, I left it unplugged for about 10 minutes or so and when I plugged it back in, everything was working fine. Apparently there is some sort of capacitor that must discharge long enough to completely remove power from the circuitry.

Good luck and I hope this works for you!
