Question about Saws

1 Answer

I have aStihl TS 400 cut off saw. The outer Shroud was removed to replace the spark plug. I did not remove the shroud, someone else did for me, now I cannot figure out what parts are attached and to where they are attached. I need a schematic with a blown up view I guess. Nothing obvious to this.

Stihl doesnt publish anything online they want you to go to the dealers. i used to work for one and if you go in and ask most of the time they will print it right out for you or if you get lucky theres a good mechanic in there would waiting and can show you real quick.

Hi, my Stihl ts 400 blade runs at idle.I have tried adjusting the idle down as far as I can but it still turns.

seems that ur clutch is sticking.take recoil caseing of and check by turning blade by hand,if you feel the engine turning over, then your clutch drum is sticking,be sure to remove ur spark plug cap! it will be the bearing at the rear of the clutch drum, maybe a little oil and a few turns will help it free itself.hope this helps.

TS 350 I have spark to the on/off switch, but no spark to the spark plug

The Short Circuit wires need to be looked at. Take off the cover over the flywheel. The two thin wires coming off of the coil need to be checked to see if there is a spot that has rubbed off and if there is a bare wire grounding out against the housing of the Cut Off Saw. May also check the coil wire going to the spark plug. This can also develop a spot that can ground out on the housing.

My ts 400 cut off saw has no spark when trying to start it

check to make sure it not the saw it self. remove the flywheel cover and remove the wires from the ignition module(do not remove the spark plug wire) then reinstall flywheel cover making sure wires will not get caught in flywheel. using a ignition tester see if it has spark. if not replace ignition module. if it does however that means now you have to track down where the short is.

How do I replace the spark plugs on a 2001 Dodge Dakota? There is some type of metal cylinder around the spark plug, preventing me to get my socket to grab on to the spark plug.

is it a shroud that covers all of them i know some models it takes a special plug socket to remove them its very thin in diameter so a special socket is used or if possible like i said if its a shroud remove this to gain access
