I HAVE A BROTHER MODEL #MFC-465CM WHICH FAILS TO POWER UP AFTER WE HAD A POWER OUTAGE. AFTER THE POWER WAS RESTORED, I COULD NOT GET THE PRINTER TO SWITCH BACK ON. CAN YOU TELL IF THERE'S ANY PROBLEM WITH A FUSE IN SYSTEM OR SOMETHING? I WOULD APPRECIATE IT. THANKS CHUCK

There is no fuse. Your power supply has failed.

Copier will not turn on....had a storm and power outage earlier this week. Brother MFC-6490CW.

Seems the is an internal problem due to overvoltage. This could be caused due lightning.
If you are lucky only an internal fuse is blown. Else the power supply is gone ... In the worst case also other electronic parts are damaged.

BROTHER DCP 8020 ERROR 6A

A Brother MFC-8840D reported an Error 6A on the panel after a short power-outage that occurred. Calling Brother indicated that the error reflects that.

To clear the error, the procedure is as follows:
1. Turn off printer
2. Hold down MENU button on front panel and turn on power while continuing to hold.
3. Release button after 5 seconds (after the Please Wait message)
4. If error still occurs:
5. Press 91
6. If error still occurs:
7. Press 99

This should clear the error.

Good luck

Error code 78

Usually a result of a sudden power outage. Majority of the time it can be reset without replacement of the fuser. Here is an article I wrote explaining the cause and how to reset the message.

Try downoading the drivers from the apple web site. You would need the brother 1.1 drivers download.

After a power outage, my Brother printer,

First off, make sure that you have turned both the printer and the computer off and then turn them on(cycle the power). When you go to the printer in 'printers' be sure that the printer is not light in color, if it is, then it's failed to come back online or it's broken. When you say, 'I have tried going into the control panel and clicking on print offline', I take you to mean 'print online', because you don't want to print offline, you want it online...

The easiest way to solve this is to move the usb plug going into the computer from the printer from one port to another, this will force the computer to re recognize the printer. I see that this printer has network capability. I am assuming, that the printer is connected via USB and not Ethernet. [USB, rectangle the size of your pinky, but narrow, Ethernet looks like a big phone plug]. If you move the plug from one USB slot to another and you don't hear the hardware connect sound(low tone then high tone), then your printer may be broken. It is possible if it is broken that the Ethernet port still works, but using that is beyond this discussion.

Good luck,

Brett
