I was just given a Y SR34 keyboard and I just wanted to know how to make all those cool extra function keys work. A manual would work.

For the extra buttons to work you will need to install the software that came with the keyboard. If none was provided the instructions will usually tell you a website to get them from.

After the proper drivers / software is installed, the extra function keys should work. If not the keyboard may be defective, or issues beyond the scope of this question may exist such as virus or other interference.

My keyboard's volume control does not function. I think it is because of the viruse that invades my computer. the other function is working properly. how can I fix it?? have an idea?

  • There is nothing that is related to virus in this problem, the volume control keys on the key board are extra keys which are usually found to malfunction over a period of time.
  • Also these keys depends on the fact whether the keyboard requires a driver to be installed for them, which depends on the brand of keyboard and whether you received a driver cd along with the keyboard to enable that functionality etc..
  • It could also happen that your operating system is not supporting the keys due to some driver update.
  • In your case it seems that the keys are not functioning due to a circuit damage which is normal for such keyboards with extra keys, Though many people won't do that would recommend you to change or replace the keyboard with a new one because of this reason,if it's under warranty.

The Multimedia Key board functions veries from brand to brand. the best way to learn the keyboard functions is to go through the manual of the keyboard and if you do not have the same then you can get the manual from the Keyboard's makers official website.

the function keys doesnt need any extra driver.

but if you want to use tha additional features of function key like save, load, close and many more then you can get the software directly from official website of sony. alternativel you can download hotkeycontrol xp by which you can reconfigure you keyboard to add extra feature and options

Insert or over-type feature
I have the Microsoft Comfort Keyboard and it has a "F lock" key. This key has to be set on "Off" to let it know that I want to use the Print Screen function versus the Insert function on the same key. May be your keyboard is the same way.

Gateway SK-9922 Keyboard fastkeys don't work
You have a problem with your drivers. That keyboard is too old and I can not find any vista drivers. I can find XP and Windows 2000 drivers. The regular keys should work, but the extra keys that are not standard on all keyboards, like the cut, paste, and volume controls should not work.

If you want a keyboard to have those functions, then you need to buy a newer keyboard that has vista drivers.
